The individual states, localities therein, and religious organizations are responsible for public education. The Fed should have no part of it; the Constitution strictly limits the federal government's power to have any say in how states run their own affairs. Defense against foreign enemies is spelled out in the Constitution. Public healthcare would have to be handled in state constitutions, but that is granting a vulgar amount of power to central authorities and would be corrupting to an unimaginable scale. Having Liberty carries with it adult responsibilities -- mommy and daddy aren't going to wipe your chin anymore. Socialists (children grown old) should move to Europe.
