FOX Attacks!: FOX ATTACKS! The Environment

I just love liberals...can't beat people in the realm of ideas, so your solution is to try to silence those with whom you disagree. Wasn't this a tactic of Adolf Hitler and his crowd? Oh, I'm sorry, you're probably all too uneducated in history to know this fact.
  • Ellen · 2 years ago
    Signed!
  • Deevman · 2 years ago
    Hey Janet,

Hitler and the Karl Rove of his days, Joel Goebel silenced the people by creating and editing the news. They controlled the main newspapers and accused anybody that disagreed with them unpatriotic and shameful to the country. Sound familiar. Just start opening your eyes a little. Liberals don't have to call Republicans names they have the facts on their side.
  • Truthseeker · 2 years ago
    Janet,

You're too uneducated to know the difference between real Hitler wannabes and those who are trying to hold them accountable.

    Now buzz off, loser.
  • Kaitlyn · 2 years ago
I have heard this quote many, many times. "Democrats think the glass is half full, Republicans think the glass is theirs." We don't silence anyones ideas, we listen to others, and if what we hear from others requires telling someone to shut it, then we'll do it. At least us Liberals don't change others words around and make up false statements ro publicity and uneeded attention.

So, where did the term 'global warming' come from?
    We made it up!

Aided and abetted by duped media hysteria based on the myth of human influence on the historic evolution of global climate change:

This planet has been here over four billion years. We've been here for a hundred thousand. We've been engaged in heavy industry for two hundred years. Two hundred as opposed to 4.5 billion!

Are we really so conceited and arrogant that we believe some plastic bags, a bunch of aluminum beer cans and light bulbs are going to put this globe into jeopardy?

This planet has been through earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics, solar flares, sun- spots, magnetic storms, pole reversals, planetary floods, worldwide fires, tidal waves, wind and water erosion, cosmic rays, ice ages, and hundreds of thousands of years of bombardment by comets, asteroids, and meteors.

And it's still happening! Hundreds of active volcanoes today spewing millions of tons of sulphur and CO2 into the atmosphere every minute, make any 'man made' contribution insignificant. Mt. St. Helens in one burp spewed more pollutants than all human produced industrial emissions over a period of who knows how long. But I'm sure some 'scientist' will tell us even if we don't ask.

The fear mongering luddites are a well oiled industry and a very profitable one to the propagators of it. Books, papers, 'studies', appearances, interviews, donations, speeches, articles, columns, foundation grants, government grants, 'non profit' tax exempt salaries and web sites with 'donate buttons'. And, as long as it can keep a duped media on side, it will continue to be profitable.

I am no Paul Watson [co-founder of Greenpeace] fan, but in a moment of rare truth, when asked by a reporter what made Greenpeace so successful, he replied:

"It doesn't matter what is true, it only matters what people believe is true.... You are what the media define you to be. Greenpeace became a myth and fund generating machine." ("Forbes", Nov. 1991)

And, do you ever wonder, that when these duped myrmidons drag out the..., "two thousand scientists say"............., that they don't name these 'scientists'? Media types are big on this and because they have no expertise of their own they will spin anything that they think may bring ratings. This "human induced earth warming" myth is simply the latest 'flavor of the month' that has become the trendy fashion of the times. And like all fashions it too will pass. But we may have to pay a high price before this one dies.

Remember,.. the 'Silent Spring' hysteria cost the lives of millions of children in South America before that myth ran its course and DDT was re-introduced. But not before an ignorant media stampeded an also ignorant government bureaucracy. __That was also a high price! And a lot of people who jumped on the "ban DDT" bandwagon made money writing books while populations of children were dying of malaria. Unconscionable!

Now, we have...."Two thousand scientists say...."

Surely there must be a list of names of these 'scientists' and their qualifications. The list has got to be somewhere otherwise how could anyone base their argument on something they can't produce? Find the list, and have it handy when someone doubts your assertion that a Honda idling in the driveway is going to cause the oceans to appear in my back yard. That should not be difficult to do if these 'experts' exist.

Either produce the list, produce your qualifications, or stay silent on the subject, because you have nothing on which to base your argument if your using a phantom........, "Two thousand scientists say...."!

And,by the way, neither Gore nor Suzuki are climate scientists! They are presenters!.....And making a lot of money; which of course, is the purpose of the exercise. They don't care about the environment......anymore than a TV evangelist cares whether he heals your herpes as long as you contribute to the collection plate;.... in Gore/Suzuki's case the 'donate' button on a web site.

WE MADE ALL THE WORDS UP!
Nice George Carlin rant but you stopped short at the line where he says "the planet isn't going anywhere, WE ARE!" and that is the point here, making sure we don't go anywhere when the planet tries to shake us off like the "surface nuisance" that we are. Look, if you shut yourself in your garage and let your stupid honda idle, what will eventually happen? If I tell you will you take my word for it or would I have to go find a scientist? Now imagine all the car and all the power plants running all the time. It's a small world after all.
    Enjoy your snooze Max!

I don't understand some of the people trolling on this.

    Look, it's actually pretty simple.

If YOU agree that in YOUR opinion there IS a problem with global climate change AND you don't like the Fox Noise method of denying same AND if you want to sign the petition...Have at it!

I personally don't like how many times Inhofe was on screen. I have watched him and listened to him and IN MY OPINION he's a Jerk of the first order.

So, IN MY OPINION, if I can cut back on some of the advertising that supports what I CONSIDER his (and others) drivel about the non-changing climate, then I will do so.

But reading some of the lame half-assed posts from the trolls that I have seen on sites like this is in no way going to change my mind.

So, why don't you just exercise your option to click off and go somewhere that puts up only what you want to hear.

You know, they do have a pretty clever tag line..."Pssssst, Do something!"

It doesn't say bitch and moan about something, now does it?

    About Janet's comment

just love liberals...can't beat people in the
realm of ideas, so your solution is to try to
silence those with whom you disagree.

It's not just about ideas, it's also about power. Fox's News has real power, the power to misinform large numbers people (victims). In a real market place of ideas, the scientific community, the fact of human caused global warming has won.

Fox doesn't care about ideas, and the only way to prevent them from spreading misinformation is to apply real pressure, hence the need for boycotts and similar measures.
  • Mark · 2 years ago
    Hey Max,

You can always tell who's been listening to the misinformation about climate change rather than looking at the actual evidence. The volcanos-emit-more-CO2-than-man-has-in-who-knows-how-long is a well known and often de-bunked bit of fossil fuel industry propaganda. If this were true, every time there was a major volcanic eruption - such as Mt St Helen's, we would see a major spike in atmospheric CO2. We don't see any such spikes however, just a long, very even upward trend. The sum total of all volcanoes emit CO2 at a rate about 1/150th that of anthropogenic (man-made) emissions. Also, by analyzing certain isotopes, scientists are able to determine what percentage of the CO2 in the atmosphere comes from burning fossil fuels.

    http://www.realclimate.org/index.php?p=87

It's true that we puny humans can't do anything to "destroy" the planet but that isn't the point. We're changing the climate of the earth enough to make it increasingly less hospitable to human life and the societies that we've built based on the relatively stable climate that the earth has enjoyed for hundreds of thousands of years.

Also, If you want a list of the "two-thousand" scentists, I suggest you read the IPCC report an look at the attached signatures.

THE ENERGY COMPANY "Experts" - or LOBBYISTS - are of course going to say - Global warming is a myth - let's ignore science. As that burning in hell idiot Jerry Falwell once said, "...I don't believe there is such a thing called 'the ozone'. I don't see it." Well the misled are the NeoCon, energy company backed rightwing nut jobs - who will sacrifce us all to make their buck. This isn't about "Al Gore" donations - what cr*p is that!! If you spent that much time to write about ignoring the "facts and science" to save your jobs - then may your children forgive you their asthma, diabetes and every other cancer that comes from polluting the earth and not taking this crisis seriously. Ask the former EPA officials, including Christine Todd Whitman - whom resigned because of the lies she was being asked to tell BY THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION, if global warming and the earth crisis is real! Fox brought on every Energy Lobbyist they could find to say what the Duke Energy, PSE&G;, Con Ed company's of the world want you to believe. Crank up the AC - Don't worry about the triple digit summers, the warm winters - and hey, does anyone remember Spring and Fall? What happened to them? NeoCon nuts join Falwell in the hottest place of all. Those of us put on earth to do better, will continue to fight the ignorance that is Pat Robertson University and the Project for A New American Century imperialist campaign against humanity. How is it possible Hannity has a job - I mean even as a soda jerk?? What a complete a**kissing moron is he!! O'Reilly, Limbaugh, these crazy people are feeding off the sheep they serve. Nice.
  • John Hancock · 2 years ago
Sorry, I get carried away after witnessing the STUPIDITY that is Fox "news". I am going to request my congressman and constituents investigate the continual propoganda that was "banned" after WWII so that we would not find ourselves at the mercy of a Nazi like propoganda campaign - particularly by a foreign owned interest (such as Murdock). Although the great Ronald McDonald Regan (sic), had the law removed during his tenure as destroyer of the constitution, it is time for Congress to "reconsider" the wisdom of those before them. Fox is Pravda. Fox is Goebbles. Fox is Lies.
  • James · 2 years ago
Max Norton wrote, "... This planet has been through ... hundreds of thousands of years of bombardment by comets, asteroids, and meteors...."

Billions actually -- but then, we know that Fox Watchers are notoriously disrepectful of fact. Nonetheless, I agree with your overall point: this godless, mechanical universe has indeed been brutal to life as we know it, and yet, life itself has persevered.

So yeah, sure, life on Earth surely will survive when we raise the temperature sufficiently to melt all the ice on the planet, flooding all the coastal cities of the world. Even if we raise the temperature so much that no intrepid band of humans will find a habitat in which to survive, life will go on. But where does that leave us and our grandchildren?

True Fox Believers say, "Unbridled Capitalism is our god. Sacrifice our progeny on its altar. We send them willingly to the slaughter." The God of the Bible made a similar demand upon Abraham, to sacrifice his only son as a gesture of his faith; yet, at the last moment, when Abraham's faith was proven, he did not make him actually peform the deed. Be warned: the creature you worship will not be so merciful.

As much as I'd like to put this on my blog because of the important issue of global warming, the video you offer is an embarrassment. It's a barrage of one sentence clips that are sensationalized. It looks like a propaganda piece and frankly, I wouldn't want my blog's heading over it because show casing it would make me look like a dupe.

You have the resources to do this right. How about slowing down and carefully choosing which outrageous, ridiculous lies you want to give air time? Then let it play out for a bit. The folks at FOX are obviously hanging themselves with their own words. You can help them out and get the rest of us to join you.
  • Diego · 2 years ago
The topic of this string reminds me of a time I went with my kids to the local zoo where they have a manatee exhibit. It's a pretty neat set up that includes an observation window where you can see the manatees swimming around, eating and doing what manatees normally do underwater.

I couldn't help catch a comment from a couple next to me. The woman basically said "Oh, look at the manatee." and the man's response was "what's the use of a manatee?"

I can't help but notice that's the typical observation you get from conservatives (right wing fundies to neo-cons). Point is, if they can't see an immediate justification to something, they don't even want to think about it.

Does a manatee create? Does it invent? Does it do anything else except eat, swim, defecate and mate?

No. It just exists in its environment without making any negative impacts on it. It won't destroy it's habitat like humans do and find different ways to rationalize its destructive behavior. It doesn't make anything worth selling (although I really don't know what the market value of its waste matter is {oops, thinking like a conservative!}) and really don’t travel that far.

And I think that’s the point most people who deny humans have any kind of impact on this world just always tend to miss. If every human would be wiped off the face of the earth this planet would go on happily spinning in the cosmos and apart from the biosphere breathing a sigh of relief (only kidding, it would probably jump and cheer) I’m pretty sure animals like the manatee or the sea lion or the hedgehog wouldn’t miss us at all.

But if the environment that supports not only us but the manatee and the hedgehog and the horse and the buffalo and I know I can go on and on were to cease existing or experience a severe reduction in it’s capacity to exist I’m pretty sure we would feel the impact.

I guess the point most conservatives (or deniers, take your pick) don’t get is the earth doesn’t need us, we need it.
  • albabe · 2 years ago
    Hey Janet:

It seems you musta drowned in the Koolaid and really have no clue as to what you are talking about. Your "argument" is not only not even linear, it's not even sensible.

I don't know of any "liberals" or "liberal institutions" who have tried to silence anyone. Trying to get a corp to not fund nonsense crap like FOX is not anything resembling "silencing." It's telling them that We The People won't buy their products if they ally themselves with scum like FOX... Not the American way?

As for uneducated: Actually it’s a plain and simple fact that Progressives are significantly more educated in all ways than Conservatives... whether it's from badly funded public schools, TV, or just self examination. Just look at how many imbeciles that watch FOX still believe that Iraq had something to do with 9/11.

    ~albabe
  • albabe · 2 years ago
Hey Max. Great rant! Too bad it's all kinda nutty none-linear nonsense.

And then of course you ally yourself with FOX News (I'm amazed you had the cohones to use the suffix "news..." Pretty funny... I assume you are being ironic)

    Great posts here!

John Hancock and Mark: Damn... Great stuff! Really... no irony here.

James: That god has a name: Mammon.

nativedreamer: Huh? This is not meant for PBS (Pentagon Broadcasting System) it's meant for easy consumption for the apathetic, ignorant, idiot masses... sorta like the Anti-McDonalds.

    diego: Nice
  • Jacques · 2 years ago
Okay, this is all fine and dandy, lovely examples of the FOX "News" talking points. Are you at all surprised by the kind of lunacy posted by the Janets ' and Maxs' of the right wing world? If you want to attack these people you should be presenting climate scientists with the chance to rebut their lies, and back it up with journal references. A single repository of this information would do wonders to help with this fight. Unfortunately it's all too distributed. It's like fighting Creationism/ID junk science lies. This video does nothing for me, and I agree with you that the Fox talking heads are whores. This video will not convert any fence sitters, or dittoheads. You're preaching to the converted. Pssst. Do something meaningful!

Seeing this ugly and childish arguing is nausiating. This is a reminder of why I cut off my television signal altogether.

I have noticed over the years, and especially now, that talking about global warming is easy to argue about and tends to lead to extreme polarization that these TV shows thrive on. This has lead me to switching the topic of conversation instead to the CAUSE of global warming which is the massive combustion of petroleum and developing a culture almost completely dependent on this non renewable resource.

To get to the heart of the matter, I simply change the topic to one that is not as easy to argue about and focuses on the solution rather than the problem by posing a question like:

"Do you think it is intelligent for humans, individually or collectively, to be so dependent on a resource that is not renewable?"

    Or,

"Global warming or not, how much longer do you think we should wait to begin talking seriously about plans for getting beyond being so completely dependent on petroleum, which is not renewable?"

This switch has been amazingly gratifying and constructive since most people agree that being dependent on a non renewable resource is not intelligent and talking about alternatives is a good idea, now.

I recommend making this switch to a post petroleum planning discussion everytime the subject of global warming or climate crisis comes up. You'll be glad you did.

  • Richard · 2 years ago
Posting the numerous facts and studies about global warming would do nothing for this argument, because only the dumbest of the dumb still argue against the fact. The only debate among scientists is how long we have before we pass the point of no return and completely doom the planet. How can anyone be stupid enough to believe that poluting the air we breath and the water we drink is not harming the planet and ourselves?
  • Buck · 2 years ago
Global warming and climate change may very well be occuring, after all, it has been happening for untold numbers of years. But, why is it, in all the ranting and raving we hear, nobody seems to zero in on what may be the biggest cause of all, solar storms coming from the sun?? It appears Neptune and Mars are also experiencing warming at about the same rate as earth. I don't believe SUV's or use of fossil fuels is too prevalent on those planets!
  • kat · 2 years ago
Yes, indeed, we made up the term, Global Warming. Since we created language as a means of communication, we pretty much make up ALL the terms. Here's one for you, Max: Duh!!!!

I agree with Steve that we need to change the subject and no longer participate in the a debate over whether global climate change is in progress. It is. I don't need to see the list of scientists' names (but I HAVE seen many of them posted so I know the information is there for someone who REALLY cared to see it).

Perhaps you think it is all a hype, but wouldn;t you hate to be wrong about that? ...and find out the hard way when the sea levels rise and the beautiful coastal cities in our country and around the world are under water? and millions of people displaced?!

The point is that Fox news always just portrays their opinions as facts. They are the most irresponsible news agency I've ever seen. They have completely lost objectivity and do not even deserve the titles of journalists. The title they deserve is a puppet for the master. I am committed to this Fox boycott and any advertisers on Fox until they report news responsibly again.

People only believe what they want.

As the richest nation in the world we should be setting an example and should be helping the rest of the world. What good is a new car when there are people suffering?

Our people are jealous. We covet what our neighbor has. "Our neighbor should be the one giving to charity not us." When I have what they have I will begin giving.

We are afraid of other countries and their control.

Our foreign policy has been destroyed durring this administration.

We need a new leadership that upholds the Constitution instead of finding loopholes in it. The Constitution is where our strength lies.
We need the ideals that made our country strong.

"Liberals" are idealists, they live to uphold an ideal way of life.
Conservatives are selfish, they live to get what they can for themselves and if they get enough they may give some to someone they deem worthy, to make themselves feel better.

Sunpots? Please! The data don't add up. Sunspots cycle over 11 years, and although the peaks of sunspot activity are higher now than, say 100 years ago, they haven't changed since the 60's. And most of our global warming has happened since the 60's.

So, find another boogeyman. And if you can't, then accept the fact of human-caused climate change.

Going after the sponsors at Fox is the only thing that Rupert understands. I used to think Fox was a far right spokesman but I now have a different opinion. Fox is a corporate mouth piece that has attached itself to the party most likely to deliver corporate profits, but that's it. The creation of Fox was a stroke of genius. Instead of supplying good programming to get advertising dollars they figured out that all they need do is promote the corporate agenda via the fake news and BINGO, big corporate advertising dollars. Take away the money and you take away the lions teeth.

Uhm first question why are even listening to any of these boneheads? I'm pretty sure not one has a SCIENCE background other than the required college Chem and Biol courses (including the fork tongued energy pig Gore). As with most environmental issues it is not just ONE thing, there is a combination of factors coalescing into a mind numbing tsunami of possible destruction. CO2 and Nitrogen are not poisonous - up to a point, but as with everything in LIFE an overabundance is poisonous. Living matter (trees, soil, us) need certain amounts of these elements-approx. 78% of our air is Nitrogen- but when we cut down the trees that absorb the excess CO2 and hold the soil that uses the nitrogen (or just poison the soil)well what do think is going to happen? We're stopping up the toilet and it's about to overflow. We need to stop listening to any of the politics and tell the politicians what needs to be done-including the reality challenged liberals, money hungry Reps, & brainless Dems.

I find it interesting that many of the conservative posters say that Al Gore doesn't know what he is talking about because he isn't a climatologist. But neither is Bill O'Reilly or any of the so-called "experts" on the show, who are all mostly just corporate representatives from think-tanks. The facts are indisputable that global warming is happening, and that it is man-made. They say that scientists just "assume" that it is from carbon emissions. Nobody is assuming anything. They know it is from carbon emissions because they tested the levels in the air, and tested its effect on the the ozone layer. I just can't believe we are still debating this issue.
FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE GLOBAL WARMING IS NOT REAL: Pat Robertson has already admitted that global warming exists, as well as the Bush administration. So, since crazy right-wingers don't seem to trust scientific research, maybe the fact that your political idols actually do believe in global warming might actually convince you.

    Yours, Al
  • Stewie · 2 years ago
Ok for crying out loud is anyone actually going to do any research on global warming before they go running there mouth.
If anyone actually wants to research what Climantologists, They're the guys that study weather, are saying on the issue go to www.worldclimatereport.com

Did no one here find it wierd that Al Gore only used One climantologist in his film hmmm odd you'd think that If Global warming is actually such a big threat than they would all be stepping over eachother to Be involved in his movie.

Ok and before you all start yelling and screaming climantologists aren't saying that there is NO global warming but just that it's not as serious of an issue as SOME might make it out to be and that it's not the first time it's happened either.
Do any of you tree huggers know how much CO2 gasess THE EARTH puts out each year. We as humans have such little impact stop trying to think that we are really that significant in the universe. The Planet puts 100x more greenhouse gasses into our atmosphere each year than we do.

If anyone has the balls to actually go check out world climat report there is an interesting article on elephant seals that I suggest they read. www.worldclimatereport.com
might help a bit knowing that parts of antarctica that our covered in ice presently were compleatly exposed about six hundred years ago.

Oh and the big fuss is all about 1 degree change in a hundred years! Climantologist out of USC estimated this year that of that 1 degree humans were responsible for 0.01%.

Oh and P.S. CO2 being added to our atmosphere actually boosts plant growth and in turn oxygen.
By increasing CO2 levels we should see an increase in quality and quantity of our vegitation.
  • Stewie · 2 years ago
    Ok this is for AL,
Your an idiot people aren't just debating this for fun there is NO conclusive scientific fact for the basis that global warming is man made. Greenhouse gasses have risen and yes the temperature has as well oh my gosh that's it. I'm sorry but NO. teen sex has risen over the last hundred years and oh my gosh so has the temperature. God must be mad at us for our sins and now he's punishing us. Your logic is the same as what led to witch hunting. there are a billion of other factors that link to the rising temperature none of which have anything to do with us.
We just like to think that we are in control and that we matter but the truth is that we don't and the earth has been hotter than it is now and it's been colder. It will get hotter and then it will get colder it's the way it's always happened with or without us.
Stop getting your facts from the Day After Tomorrow and start doing some research. I used to think the same way until someone smacked me around and told me to see what scientists are finding and not what people are saying scientists are finding. look at the facts and not the statements and make your own damn choices. Stop being a mindless robot and think for yourself for once.
Oh and the fact that greenhouse gasses have risen doesn’t mean they have risen from US. look into what the earth naturally emits.... lot more than us oh and it fluctuates sometimes our planet emits more. crazy huh would have thought that was a constant and only we matter.

When someone asks me what I'm doing to combat the so-called "man made global warming" mantra, I try not to show my dismay that I've run into yet another victim of the "flavor of the day" environmental evangelism.
Rather,I simply tell them that I'm combating it by doing what I've always done.

I pour my used motor oil around the base of my fence posts to preserve them. (saves cutting down a tree)

I spray the equivalent of Agent Orange on the weeds in the lane and back yard.

I use gallons of chemical fertilizers every spring and fall.

I spray DDT (yes it's available) in potential mosquito breeding areas.

I wash down my driveway with a mixture of bleach and TSP.

Since the threat of banning the incandescent light bulb, I have a supply [300] that will last approx. 60 years at about 5-6 bulb replacements a year.

I have acquired 10 large supermarket type rolls of plastic bags (4000 bags per roll) that I will use when I shop and will throw in the garbage when I get home. At about 750 a year,--57 years supply. By that time I figure the public will have awakened from its coma and Gore will have gone to claim his virgins.

I have a wood stove in my shop in which I burn everything from wood scraps to plastic wraps and paint rags.

I pour any liquid that won't blow the manhole cover off, down the drain. Otherwise, see fence posts.

I dispose of car and marine batteries by digging a 16"x16"x24" hole in the backyard and putting them back from where they came; underground!

I have two lawnmowers, a weed trimmer, a chainsaw, a generator, three outboard engines, and a pickup truck, all gas guzzlers.

I remove the catalytic converter from my exhaust system and then replace it just prior to going through the test station; once a year, then it comes off.

I have replaced the refrigerant in the air conditioner with Freon.

I put my news papers, jars, and cans in the garbage.

I buy hardwoods that come from the Amazon 'rain forest'.

I don't throw my beer cans out the car window.

I don't toss my Big Mac wrapper into the street.

I don't water the lawn when the reservoirs are low.

I take in a stray dog occasionally.

I swerve to miss a squirrel.

    I snitched on my neighbor's grow-op.

I poured a generous amount of liquid epoxy into the barrel of my brother's .38 Smith&Wesson; and his Remington .308. [I'll get to my cousin's Colt .45 when he's not looking.]

And, unlike the hysterical 'man made global warming' whackaloons, I try to keep the bullshit to a tolerable level.

This is laughable. You people can't get your point accross as being fact to any one with an IQ over a 100 so you attack FOX news for at least trying to present the other side. Yes they name call a little, but, through that there is debate. You and your socilist ideals want to shut down the debate because Global Warming is going to make you billions. You and your kind will be exposed for the frauds that you are. You better pray the justice system is still intact when this happens because you will be lynched and for bilking Americans out of billions.

    Stewie,
I checked out the World Climate Report, browsed through it a bit, and because I like to check my sources, I ran a Google search on a randomly chosen contributing editor of the site. It turns out that Robert C. Balling, one of the editors, has admitted to accepting over $400,000 from fossil fuel interests in the past decade. In turn, he debunks Climate Change evidence/myths. It looks like climate change dissenters are there to make a buck, also.

p.s. most people in the non-profit world are not looking to "bilk Americans ouf of billions".

    Another thing:

Let's pretend the naysayers are right, FOX is right, global warming is a myth. What are the consequences? Perhaps some innovative technology that cuts energy consumption, some cool concerts, maybe fewer SUVs, etc. I don't see too much harm resulting from efforts to stop non-existant global warming.

Now, what if Al Gore and company are right?
  • Stewie · 2 years ago
What if Al Gore is right?
That's not the point the point isn't to say that the earth hasn't warmed over the last hundred years. Oh and by a degree I might add. It's that the effects aren't going to kill us all and submerge cities underwater. Really the argument is that we are spending to much time on an issue that is a lot less important than say the number of children who die of starvation each year. There are issues now that we could be dealling with that whould have a much bigger impact on our world.
  • Anonymous · 2 years ago
Stewie, you are soooo wrong saying "NO conclusive scientific fact for the basis that global warming is man made." the 'Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change' concluded this year that "Most of (50% of) the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely (confidence level >90%) due to the observed increase in anthropogenic (human) greenhouse gas concentrations." you can read their reports all over the internet. the IPCC consists of many of the top scientists around the world and while not all scientists agree with their report, the IPCC has been studying global warming since they formed in 1988. remember, you can always find a scientist who will deny the obvious just to have his or her name in print or to appear on Fox Noise.

Wow and you are attacking Fox's credibility? That propaganda piece you made is far worse than anything Fox would ever attempt to do. All you did was clip every cut you could find that supported an idea that Fox is unbalanced. Pure emotionalism and propaganda. You can make Jesus or Ghandi look horrible too if you took every somewhat bad thing they said out of context.

I believe in global warming and that its man made and something should be done.

YOU are misinforming the public with propaganda pieces like this video.

The biggest problem I have with this whole issue is that the majority of people form their opinions without knowing anything about the issue first hand, so wouldn’t it make sense to listen to the unbiased experts who aren’t paid to have an agenda to form your opinion? if you did you would quickly find that "the science is in" and there is an overwhelming consensus that global warming is a fact and its going to hit us hard and fast if we don’t look up to see it coming,
It is my belief that people wont change unless they have incentives, and incentives work best when they aren’t moral incentives, which is why it would be a great idea to accelerate change by taxing fuel inefficient cars like the hummer or escalade, adding on something like 5000$ to the price tag and give that money to people who buy hybrids or smart cars. By the way, just on a personal note, buying and driving a hummer is the equivalent of buying a polar bear coat, it’s childish in the short run, and cruel and selfish in the long run to drive these cars and I feel embarrassed as a human being every time I see one, shame on you.

The idea that man is the primary contributor to global warming is indeed a hoax. The global climate has never been stable. The temperature has been dropping and rising for the longest. People should look at the history. Man being the primary cause of global warming is just a mechanism they're trying to use to bring about their global government. Just like they're using 9/11 to try and bring it about.

I haven't studied the issue more than the average person, but there is solid contridicory evidence against the popular theory. Check out this documentary:

Yes. Temperatures have risen. The climate is in fact changing. But, the earth climate is ALWAYS changing. 200 years ago, a "little ice age existed, beginning in the 14th century". The earth has, in fact been warming over the past 200 years. But, it cannot necessarily be attributed to CO2.

I can not believe people. This global warming issue is out of control.

First FACT: The earth goes through Hot and Cold spells(take a look at your cold and warm fronts people) and has been going on since the earth has formed(though it is much much cooler than it once was)

Second FACT: Show me proof of the yearly temperature for the last 5000 years. I'm sure NO one can. That alone will help offset this people.

Third FACT: I personally have bought all the 13watt bulbs to replace my high energy 60watt ones. Why? Because I'll save a little dough in the long run.

First MYTH: Al Gore is right. FACT about him: This guy is a spokesman for every enviromental company out there trying to make a living.

Second MYTH: The world is going to be so full of CO2 we can't breathe. FACT: Prove it. Black lung used to affect coal miners. A couple generations later, no black lung. Our lungs adapt.(Take a look at scientific studies in allergies on rats in sewers versus rats in clean labs)

Now that we debunked have the reasons through science, by means of them unable to prove things through the scientific method, congradulations.

I would like to thank the name callers in the previous entries for all of you sound so very intelligent (NOT).
I would like to thank all the non global warming entries for coming to a liberal site and stating your views. It won't be long once (if) Fox is censor that you will be next.
I would also like to draw attention to last year experts predictions on global warming causing a new record high in number and strength for hurricanes which didn't happen and the same was predicted this year to which we all are still waiting.
How does that story go where the boy calls WOLF and everyone jumps?

There are two camps in place. The global warming and the non global warming camps which both have their own data banks of material to promote their theory. The fact is that global warming is still a theory and is not proven.
Science proves it theories by repetition to prove the theory. This can't be done with global warming and one can not cite the earth climate change history from the birth of the planet to today. That is still theory as to what it was and when. Even there are different camps as well to debate the issue of past climate.
Speaking of issues, my two cents is wanting to prompt a news media to report what this site is promoting through depriving the people who work at the station a means to live by cutting off funds if Fox doesn't do as it is told. Fox offers many other various reporting and programs to it's viewers. It's a bit extreme to want to do that to a media on one issue.
In relation to the posted article at the top of the page: I will deny the sun sets in the west for the sun never sets and it's only the rotation of the earth that gives the illusion of setting. I wonder what other illusions are called truths on this site. I also think this site and McCarthyism may have something in common along with the boy who cried WOLF.
Kudos for Fox that doesn't gather the maximum media dollars for the popular opinion. I am glad to see the other side of the coin that Fox presents more often than other medias and make my own decision.

What I get from this is:
Do you believe that Global warming exists?
If Yes: then you may speak some more.
If No: You are an Idiot and must shut up, WE HATE YOU and YOU MUST DIE!!
Do you believe that Humans cause Global Warming?
If Yes: Then you may speak some more.
If Yes: then you may speak some more.
If No: You are an Idiot and must shut up, WE HATE YOU and YOU MUST DIE!!

People, there are ALWAYS two sides to the story, two opinions. This does not make anybody that disagrees with you the ENEMY. Just a person that does not think like you. (BTW..NOBODY THINKS JUST LIKE YOU). There will always be differences.

But what I see in Left Wing "Liberal" viewpoints is the quick reaction of HATE and the need to stop anybody from saying anything that is against party lines.

Really if you think that Humans are causing Global Warming..Sell your SUV. You dont really need that gas guzzling road hog anyways urban cowboy. Do something just dont sit here and bitch about it and others that dont agree with you.

Its funny that nobody goes after the N.Y. Times when they comment negatively on "liberal ideals"..oh wait..that will never happen.

So as the old saying goes....if you dont like whats on the T.V. dont watch the channel that has the offending info. But wait..you cant help yourself..you have to ...in fact need to have something to HATE...and IT MUST DIE!!!

Fox is certainly biased, but on this issue, I've seen clearly false statements by people on the other side. Nothing sounds sillier than when Tom Brokaw says that he couldn't find ANY scientists that disagreed about Global Warming. I'm certain I can find 2 in less than 2 minutes. What's more, many scientists that agree that we have an affect on GW, are not sure how much of it is us and how much of it is other factors.

Do I think it's a forgone conclusion that we're the major cause of global warming no.

Do I think we should take precautions? Sure. Worsed case scenario, we have less polution.
  • gary · 2 years ago
Global warming is a scam. 95% of the greenhouse effect is caused by water vapor, 2.5% by CO2. Of that 2.5%, only 2.5% of that is from man, the rest is from natural sources; decaying plants, forest fires, etc. So man's contribution is negligible. In addition, even supporters of global warming only claim a .5 degree increase in the last century, certainly too small of a change to be noticed by people or responsible for all the alegedly observed climate 'disasters'. (The glaciers are not going to melt from a half degree increase!)

You liberals are totally pathetic. Isn't one of the founding priciples of liberalism freedom of speech. Lets be honest for a minute, Before cable news hit the airwaves, the big three NBC,ABC and CBS was the only game in town and you cannot deny they had a liberal slant. Then along comes CNN and I would say when they first started, it slanted to the liberal point of view, but it was definetly better than the big three. Then Fox comes on, and I agree that it is slanted to the right. So let's see just the main news channels it's 4 liberal slanted and 1 conservative slant. What are you so afraid of, one dang conservative channel drives you crazy. What do you think conservative people have thought for the last 50 years. Why are you so afraid that there is a different viewpoint out there. What about free speech. You postmodern liberal yahooos (didn't want to say something nasty there)need to relax. By using political correct, you are destroying this counrty and free speech. Why can't politically incorrect discussion take place, be it God, Gay, whatever be discussed, without lampooning that person. Instead of free speech which you so love, you are actually stopping free speech. Don't most tyrants do the same, Ol Hugo chavez ring a bell. Which brings me to the real reason I decided to make a post. Why oh why do you go after talk radio. People have the right to listen to who they want to listen two. Say I listen to Limbaugh, do you really think I want to hear him discussing an issue with some liberal on his show. Just a question, who would pick that person, You (haha) or Limbaugh. Are you so so afraid of different viewpoints. That's why I say the bunch of you are pathetic, but especially Saros. But line you liberals don't uphold your core values, one being freedom of speech.

I agree with the part about dis-information, but you left one part out. Your liberal side does the same and you have the major news/paper outlets perpetrating your lies. You make the comment the republican lies cause death to (please keep the kids out of this discussion, I have them and so do you)people, well I counter with the lies your side says about terrorism and pulling out of Iraq, this also causes death and destruction to people. Europe turned a blind eye and look what happened to them. You and your liberal buddies can take the pacifest route, but for me, I choose the Bush way (and yes I'm military)and take the fight to them. Kinda interesting that the terrorist organizations gained their strength with the pacifest approach you know who took. Here's the way I see it, terrorist and their supporters will conduct there operations no matter if we fight them or not. Even though they may have gained strength (what you libs have said lately) it would have happened with the pacifest or go get em approach. As for the Global warming issue, maybe it's real, maybe its not or just maybe it's something in between. But the issue I have is your liberal side totally bashes anything that goes against your side. Dude face reality, if you can't admit theres a liberal bias in the media, be it T.V. or newpapers your lying to yourself. And if you would face this true reality, then you would fight for the liberal principles of freedom of speeach and fight the liberal slant that pervades this country.

Ok, I have heard both sides of the coin and I believe we are hurting our planet and we need to watch our emissions and industrial waste. I do, however, believe that the earth goes in cycles. Every so many thousand years the earth cycles from hot to cold. It is proven fact that water levels used to be much higher than they are now and that water levels once were much lower than they are now. I believe that what we are doing is looking at about 100 years of data or so to determine the direction our planet is going but it is impossible to tell right now if this is because of us (manmade waste) or if this is all part of the natural course of our planet. We still do not fully understand how our very own planet works or how often or drastic natural changes occur.
Scientists that have been studying this problem for the most part agree that we are causing some problems. Many industrialized countries are even taking steps now to be more environmentally friendly. We still have a ways to go but eventually I think we are making a difference. Air pollutants are much lower than even 10 years ago and recycling has helped reduce much of our waste production. We still have a long way to go though.
To say, we are directly responsible for global warming, is not a correct statement. We need to ensure we are fully understanding which way our planet is shifting. Doom and Gloom statements are negative and hurtfull to the cause of repairation of our environment. Let's focus on the real problem which is reducing pollutants and making our planet healthier but let's also fully understand that we may still be moving away from our last Ice Age and our planet is still warming over the past couple of thousand years.
Case in point, Alexandria in Egypt was a thriving community and central focal point in Egypt. It currently sits underwater at this time. Water levels have steadily been rising over the past 2000 years or more and have flooded many historical sites. The fact that these places are underwater is not due to global warming caused by manmade pollutants but due to the changing of our earth over time as it is natural to do. The pollutants causing global warming they say is caused by our expansion into industrialization and the emissions released by autos and industrial waste.
I am not sure what your belief is on this but I think that all facts need to be looked at on either side and that the real answer actually lies in the middle. Let's look past radical thinking.

Oh come on, guys...just because someone disagrees with you? You talk about taking stuff out of context, this is the worst! Way more than half the stuff I see on Fox News supports the idea of man-made global warming...or don't you read the science section? Is it terrible to see the other side of the issue? And certainly you are at least as guilty of slandering as Fox.

The problem with global warming is that it has become a Cause. With causes, you are either on one side or the other, and there can be no real thought about the other side. The best thing that could happen to this issue is to leave the scientists alone until they explore the issue more fully, leave the politics out so they can think and speak without fear of reprisal.

How can we believe people such as Al Gore. First of all, he doesn't even follow his own advice. His personal "carbon footprint" is the size of a small city. If he truly believed what he is spouting, then he would live it. Second, there are so many exaggerations in his movie (such as Florida could be under water someday, which now reputable scientist would concur with) that how can we trust anything he says. At least there is something like FOX News out there to show the world who these Global Warming Nazi's really are.

"There are ominous signs that the Earth’s weather patterns have begun to change dramatically and that these changes may portend a drastic decline in food production – with serious political implications for just about every nation on Earth. The drop in food output could begin quite soon, perhaps only 10 years from now."

Contrary to the liberal fear-mongers insinuation that those who challenge the extent of human involvement in causing climate change deny the reality of climate change, I know of no responsible person who denies the climate is changing. It always has.

Oh, the quotation with which I began this post is from an article by Peter Gwynne in the April 28, 1975 issue of Newsweek magazine entitled "The Cooling World".

That article goes on to say:

“To the layman, the relatively small changes in temperature and sunshine can be highly misleading. Reid Bryson of the University of Wisconsin points out that the Earth’s average temperature during the great Ice Ages was only about seven degrees lower than during its warmest eras – and that the present decline has taken the planet about a sixth of the way toward the Ice Age average.

“Others regard the cooling as a reversion to the ‘little ice age’ conditions that brought bitter winters to much of Europe and northern America between 1600 and 1900 – years when the Thames used to freeze so solidly that Londoners roasted oxen on the ice and when iceboats sailed the Hudson River almost as far south as New York City.”

One of the most honest statements in Gwynne’s article comes from the National Academy of Sciences. “Our knowledge of the mechanisms of climatic change is at least as fragmentary as our data. Not only are the basic scientific questions largely unanswered, but in many cases we do not yet know enough to pose the key questions.”

Have we advanced so much in the past 32 years that we can now definitively determine the human contribution, if any, to climate change?

I don't understand why everyone is so concerned with Fox News. If you don't like it, turn the channel or turn your TV off. I don't like Bill Maher and what he says so I don't watch. He has just as much influence as Fox News and I think alot of what he says is bull. So I guess I should rally all the "Christian Conservitives" which out number liberals to go after HBO for carrying his program. Plus, maybe I'll make a list of all the "liberal" programs on cable and their advertisers and we'll go after them. For a group that is so in favor of free speach you aren't protecting it.

    Globalists Love Global Warming

Trilateral Commission, chairman of British Petroleum, CFR, Club of Rome fan hysteria to achieve world government

    Paul Joseph Watson
    Prison Planet
    Wednesday, March 28, 2007

A common charge leveled against those who question the official orthodoxy of the global warming religion is that they are acting as stooges for the western establishment and big business interests. If this is the case, then why do the high priests of the elite and kingpin oil men continue to fan the flames of global warming hysteria?

The Trilateral Commission, one of the three pillars of the New World Order in alliance with Bilderberg and the CFR, met last week in near secrecy to formulate policy on how best they could exploit global warming fearmongering to ratchet up taxes and control over how westerners live their lives.

At the confab, European Chairman of the Trilateral Commission, Bilderberger and chairman of British Petroleum Peter Sutherland (pictured top), gave a speech to his elitist cohorts in which he issued a "Universal battle cry arose for the world to address “global warming” with a single voice."

Echoing this sentiment was General Lord Guthrie, director of N.M. Rothschild & Sons, member of the House of Lords and former chief of the Defense Staff in London, who urged the Trilateral power-brokers to "Address the global climate crisis with a single voice, and impose rules that apply worldwide."

Allegations that skeptics of the man-made explanation behind global warming are somehow doing the bidding of the elite are laughable in the face of the fact that Rothschild operatives and the very chairman of British Petroleum are the ones orchestrating an elitist plan to push global warming fears in order to achieve political objectives.

We have a similar situation to the Peak Oil scam, which was created by the oil industry as a profit boon to promote artificial scarcity, and yet is parroted by environmentalists who grandstand as if they are in opposition to the oil companies.

In his excellent article, Global warming hysteria serves as excuse for world government, Daniel Taylor outlines how the exploitation of the natural phenomenon of "global warming" was a pet project of the Club of Rome and the CFR.

"In a report titled "The First Global Revolution" (1991) published by the Club of Rome, a globalist think tank, we find the following statement: "In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill.... All these dangers are caused by human intervention... The real enemy, then, is humanity itself."

"Richard Haass, the current president of the Council on Foreign Relations, stated in his article "State sovereignty must be altered in globalized era," that a system of world government must be created and sovereignty eliminated in order to fight global warming, as well as terrorism. "Moreover, states must be prepared to cede some sovereignty to world bodies if the international system is to function," says Haass. "Globalization thus implies that sovereignty is not only becoming weaker in reality, but that it needs to become weaker. States would be wise to weaken sovereignty in order to protect themselves..."

Taylor also points out future British Prime Minister Gordon Brown's admonishment that only a "new world order" (world government) can help fight global warming.

Other attendees at the recent Trilateral meeting raised the specter of climate change as a tool to force through tax hikes.

Calling on the United States government to adopt a "carbon monoxide control policy," former CIA boss and long term champion of creating a domestic intelligence agency to spy on Americans John Deutch, argued that America should impose a $1-pergallon increase in the gasoline tax under the pretext of fighting pollution.

The lapdog media have proven adept in the past at taking their orders from the elitists in pushing higher taxes in the name of saving the environment.

"When the TC called on the United States to increase gas taxes by 10 cents at a meeting in Tokyo in 1991, The Washington Post, which is always represented at TC and Bilderberg meetings, called for such an increase in an editorial the following day," reports Jim Tucker.

Tucker writes that an essential means of achieving global government by consent over conquest, as has long been the ultimate goal of the elite, is by "fanning public hysteria" over climate change, encouraging further integration by forcing countries to adhere to international law on global warming. Such restrictions have prevented the development of third world nations and directly contributed to poverty, disease and squalor by essentially keeping them at a stone age level of progress, as is documented in The Great Global Warming Swindle documentary.

People who still trust the platitudes of politicians and elitists who implore us to change our way of life, cough up more tax money, and get on board with the global warming religion save being linked with Holocaust denial, are as deluded and enslaved as the tribes of Mesoamerica who, unaware of the natural phenomenon of a solar eclipse, thought their high priests could make the sky snake eat the Sun, and therefore obeyed their every demand.

Globalists love global warming! Oil industry kingpins, Bilderbergers and Rothschild minions have all put their weight behind it. This is a fraud conceived, nurtured and promulgated by elite, and to castigate individuals for merely questioning the motives behind climate change fearmongering by accusing them of being mouthpieces for the establishment is a complete reversal of the truth.

We talk about global warming and how we, as humans, have made the planet a "warmer place." Whatever!! However, in all of the neat little responses to the original story, we fail to see one very escapable fact: the planet has gone through warming and cooling phases for billions of years. There have been over twenty known ice ages, as proven through the study of ice cores from the Greenland ice pack, the Antarctic ice pack and some glaciers around the world. There is proof, scientific proof, of these phases. So, I truly get sick of hearing the garbage of how humans are THE primary cause of global warming. We are not, but we a contributor. I do not deny that global warming is a problem, but I do know that this was bound to occur, sooner or later; we just hastened it.

Now, you may fire away with the "you are the clueless minion of the conservative right." Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. You figure it out.

Your video of Rupert Murdoch is so obviously cut and pasted! Never once does he use the words "global warming" or "Fox News"! He could easily have been talking about any number of topics. I'm embarrassed for you. Let me ask you....is Fox News NOT allowed to question global warming? Don't we WANT diversity of opinion? There are just as many creditable scientists who dispute global warming and its causes, but you won't hear that from the likes of MoveOn.org, CNN, MSNBC,the BBC, ABC, NBC, or CBS. That's why Fox News stomps all over all those other stations with their ratings. People know they can get both sides there, albeit they do lean right, unlike the previous stations which all present the news with ONLY a liberal slant. You need to get educated, get a job, and GROW UP!

You want to talk about fair & balanced, this video clearly shows clips taken out of context, Fox has had debates on both sides of the issues, but this video just shows one side of the debate.
If you want to use only half your brain then go ahead and boycott Fox. The left needs to silence the right to further their agenda of socialism.

IN response to Alexa. Some of the same scientist that are advising us that global warming is being caused by man, are the same ones who in the 70's told us that we were in the midst of global cooling and prepare for a new ice age!

I have difficulty with climatologist who can't predict a 1,2,3,4 year trend but can tell us what will be happening 20 yrs from now. Don't get me wrong. I am for clean air and lowering polution and clean water. I simply don't buy the arguement that we are doomed.

As to the High Priest of Global Warming's credentials, this is all coming from a man who had mediocre grades at Harvard and never completed Divinity school or law school. Check out the Washington Post article for verification to his studies. www.washingtonpost.com

One of the best ways to try to defend an inaccurate and unreasonable position is to begin with a reasonable premise. Take the rhetoric from many of the trolls - "every story has two sides" - a point that appeals to a certain level of intuitive fairness that right-minded people share. The second step of this argument - that because "every story has two sides" - is where this all falls apart of course. Applied to the question of climate change, there have been a number of posters here who put this forward in the context of citing "science", typically of a biased sort that would have made the tobacco industry blush.

So to all of you concern-trolls trying to appeal to reason, let me say this: there are indeed two sides to this story - truth and fiction. There is the scientific consensus and the gibberish put forth by industry and its reactionary enablers. And applauding Fox for presenting the "other side" of this debate is like defending Clinton for lying about Lewinsky. You have indeed chosen to take the other side of the discussion, and you have chosen incorrectly.

It amazes me how so many people can be led. Doesn't anyone have a novel idea. It seems that once a "scientist" says its so it makes it so. They keep talking about evolution for the human race. Ok, I would ask the question where is evolution for the rest of the animal kingdom. I am not talking about adaptation, I am talking evolution. We keep finding all these fossils that show us huge sharks, elephants and any number of other animals that are almost exactly like those that live today other than their size. Where is the evolution therory in that? This planet has gone through all kinds of weather changes and I have personally in the last 10 years seen a July 4th so cold in Indiana you could not get into the water. Yes, I know that is part of global warming as well. The arguments are infintile and to think that Fox is the only network that gives their spin on the news is really short sighted. I don't believe there is a news organization that won't put a spin on the news because that is what makes them money, us watching their show.

If you don't like a network that comes closer to the truth than the others and you enjoy being lied to just continue to watch ABC, NBC, Dateline, MSNBC etc. By trying to force your views on the rest of us you are going directly against what you the liberal say to society, and that is to each his own as long as it doesn't bother me.

To think that being gay is ok and that if someone kills another person we should feed, house and educate them for the rest of their life is absurd. And you wonder why the world is screwed up. The kids have no fear of being punished for bad behavior anymore. The teachers cannot even disipline a student any longer without fear of being sued by a mommy and daddy that don't displine their child at home. Then they wonder why that kid ends up in prison when they get older. Now I am not suggesting that all kids that are displined won't end up in jail or that all kids that aren't displined will end up in jail. What I am saying is that we have gone to far as a society in allowing everyone else's rights to infringe upon everyone else.

You cant pray in class any longer or in some places they have taken under God out of the pledge of alligence because of the whacked out view that our schools shouldn't be teaching religion.

Well there is one school in San Diego that in that school recently every student in, I think the 6th grade, had to become a Muslim for 2 weeks. They had to think like a Muslim, had to pray during the day like a Muslim and had to read from the Koran and had to dress like a Muslim as well. They even had to write a paper on how their day as Muslim would be.

Now, if they did this with every religion it would not be so bad, but that is not the case. This is an outrage, but I am sure you liberals will have an answer for all this but that is why my son and daughter fight for this country so each of us can have an opinion without the fear of your head being cut off.

We must take our country back and do it quickly. Rome was not defeated from the outside but from the inside and that is where we are headed. If someone wants to come to this country great, but as Teddy Rosevelt said, they must learn the language and mold to our society without leaving their heritage behind.

Prior to Fox News' inception, there was no "fair and balanced" news channel. Liberals had previously been so heavily conditioned to have political and social issues be given a slant in their favor. The problem is they didn't realize it until Fox News came along. Fox News just brought everything to the center. But because the left were so used to having the media in their hip pocket, they continue to see Fox News as having a "right-wing" agenda. Nothing could be further from the truth. What liberals view as an agenda is nothing more than taking an approach that "centers" issues and provides a voice on both sides of an issue. Do you Fox News haters realize, unlike all other cable news outlets, they will almost always provide both a conservative and a liberal view point. They are "fair and balanced". Liberals preach free speech, but I guess only if they approve of what you say. Can you say H Y P O C R I T ? Can MSNBC say that? Can Keith Olberman tell his viewers he provides two sides to an issue? Not that anyone watches his show, but if liberals want to see propaganda turn on Olberman's "Countdown".
  • Alan · 2 years ago
Why is the left bent on silencing those with whom it disagrees? From University "Speech Codes" (which "tolerate" only conforming views), to attempts to stretch the old Fairness Doctrine to block the American audiences from hearing on the radio what they chose from among a wide spectrum of political viewpoints available to them (as opposed to the original purpose of the doctrine to prevent one person from dominating the opinions expressed in a market with few outlets for such opinions), and now to this: trying to blackmail businesses who seek to reach customers who watch Fox, and thus whose only shortcoming is disgreeing with the left.

You need to see what you on the left have become: you are what you so loudly decry: heavy handed Hitler-style dictators who refuse to tolerate any other view. We on the right must resist you to protect this form of goverment known as a Democracy. You do not have an exclusive right to an opinion. I too have opinions, but I do not want to silence you. We need to discuss our views like adults; compromise and find a middle ground on issues. But so long as you seek to silence us, you are no better than the other totalitarians we have seen in history. WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED AND WE WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED. The Constitution protects us too.

Wow. A website says "Let's fight FOX news" and you have how many mindless robots say "Ok?"

If anyone is out to fight bigotry and politicized news you should look at CNN or NBC. I don't watch much news, but switched to reading Fox because it gets pretty tiring and downright pathetic that every news story you read may start with "A girl in China got a doll for her birthday..." but in two paragraphs the entire rest of the story is a 'Copy and Paste' from every other story on a dumb Whitehouse and how every problem in the world is President Bush's fault and the world hates America. That's news?!?

Fox News has the intelligence level to write a story, present the news and not tie a political opinion on the end.

Example 1: Liberal news outlets say "The President is giving tax breaks to the rich." Fact - the "rich" pay on average 13% more of their income to taxes than lower income families. So, if hypothetically their percentage goes from 36% to 33% and lower income goes from 22% to 21%, why don't they report facts? And then all the mindless dummies watching them get mad and say the President is stupid! At least he didn't raise taxes!

Example 2: After occasionally watching stupid news outlets throughout the year proclaim how America is standing alone on foreign policy and people are sick of America, I travelled to 7 foreign countries this summer and was downright amazed to learn how many people are in amazement of America and would love to come here if they could do so legally (a whole other topic). Why is that not mentioned in CNN broadcasts?

Before anyone goes stupidly e-mailing pre-generated e-mails about something they no nothing about they should stop and ask if the facts are straight or if the only thing judgement is being made on are slanted statements by people with a desire to control. Fox is about the only news organization that is not controlled by these same people and presents alternative facts. Censoring them accomplishes ?

    Go live in Cuba.

    Sincerely,
    David

I just finished reading a bunch of the posts and I'm pretty sure there are more comments sticking up for FOXNEWS than putting them down. It seems kind of funny that MOVEON.ORG thinks they are winning the fight against FOX.

But come on people, we are here in the same country with pretty similar goals. I'm not saying that global warming isn't real, but I'm not advocating the Doomsday scenario that Al Gore has predicted in the coming century. Even if that were the case, China and India will be the worlds biggest polluters over the next few decades and they have shown no signs of cutting their admissions (war over global warming anyone?). But everyone should try to stop polluting, and even if you don't believe in global warming, I think we can all agree that pollution exists (just look at any major city in the US). There's no excuse for the careless littering or polluting, just try to live responsibly without all the pointless name-calling and start worrying about the real issues that are facing the country now and in the next five years like globalization, Iran and the Middle East, Healthcare, the rise of China, Russia becoming totalitarian, energy independence, and education. Why don't we start there?

People have minds people can choose to believe what they hear or read. However what you take as truth not everyone else does. Asking sponsers to pull advertising in order to stop a media outlet who's views are not the same as yours, is the same as sensorship. If one person is allowed to say one thing the someone should be allowed to say the opposite. Free thinking and debate is what makes our system great. Trying to hinder that is the first step in the decline of our beliefs in free speech. If you do not like what someone says then don't watch. The more you protest someone in this way the more people will watch them.

Silly liberals. Most of those shows you guys are using clips from are OPINION shows. I could just as easily make a video from MSNBC or CNN using clips from their OPINION shows that show liberal (or conservative for that matter) slants too. I could also compile clips of liberal statements made on Fox too. That was an extremely biased and slanted video.

Then again, I probably shouldn't expect to receive fair and balanced views on here.

Liberals are filled with so much hate, it saddens me. Instead of logical, reasoned, civilized discussion, I am guessing that they will call me a "loser" or a "warmonger" or a "homophobe".

The message of anger and hate does not resonate with America. It is why you lost in 2000, 2004 and why you will lose in 2008.

How is silencing the opposition an American solution??

Well then, I guess Americans should stop watching NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, and stay logged off of USA Today. It's obvious that those channels and sites are Liberal Left. Having served in Iraq, I can honestly tell you that they are nothing more than a place for the cowardly liberals to gather and feel better about having no spine!

Kudos to Home Depot for speaking out against censorship.

The environmental movement has millions of dollars at stake in this theory. People who blame corporations for funding research against global warming need to look to the left and all the environmental organizations with big budgets who desperately need this theory to take hold.
  • Anonymous · 2 years ago
LOL, you liberals just can't seem to get enough control.

Any scientist (whether they buy into the theory of global warming or not) will tell you that it is part of the scientific process that a theory should be debated and scrutinized before it takes hold as a widely accepted theory.

First of all, your video was conveniently edited. Obviously unbiased reporting is not too important to liberals, but still.

Second, as aforementioned, scientific debate is a good thing!!!

Third, your petition will motivate me to patronize those fine establishments who do business with Fox News.

For every call one of you loony activists make, 10 hard-working, tax-paying, freedom-loving Americans will purchase from that same company. Good luck wasting your time and your breath. (not that you have jobs anyway...)

The only place that anyone can get real and actual unbiased information is FOX NEWS CHANNEL.

You stupid brain dead liberals just can't get it through your pot addled brains that GLOBAL WARMING is communist inspired bullshit.

It is the communists way of fighting the industrialized west by lying to young people and convincing them that our way of life is destroying the planet. Why do you think that Russia and China, the 2 biggest polluters on the planet are getting a free pass in all of this.

Thing about it for a minute. Follow the money.

It is amazing to me to read this crap about global warming and how upset libs get when they are confronted.
Let's talk about another liberal media myth gone wild. "The people have spoken and we have a mandate from them to change the way this run in washington and iraq" Facts are that any 2nd term midterm election has always had low turnout and a shift in the house and I mean everytime for the last 230 years or so.Now you had a 40% turnout for the midterm elections in november of which 20% +/- were republicans so 20% of a midterm turnout does not make a mandate.Go learn what your vote has done liberal america 82 bills passed so far and 75 are for renaming post offices wow good going nancy, murtha, reed, boxer and so on.The facts are part of the record to view the way your reps voted so go look at what your mandate has changed.Oh let's not forget the famous pelosi speech we have had enough earmarks in secret from this republican controlled house and we are gonna be transparent and cut them in half in our first 6 months".Would you want to beleive that they have increase 78% and 45 billion over last years earmarks again this is public record and it does require about a 10-15 minute search at the house website so you libs may not want to do that much work

I am a conservative and I don't care who knows. I also respect the right of everyone to have an opinion regardless if I agree or disagree. But I am getting really tired of when it comes to the conservative side, we are taking away rights from the liberals. What do they think MSNBC, CNN, and media spout?? Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Tim Russert, Brian Williams, etc wouldn't know a fair and unbaised view if it hit them up the side of the head!!!! If you don't like what Fox News has to say, then just turn it off like I turn off those "unbaised" newscasters. That is a "fair and unbaised" approach!

I am an Earth Science teacher and the fact is change is constant on our planet. The atmosphere has been heating and cooling itself long before our existence. To say we are now responsible for the warming change is debatable. There simply is not enough data to say for sure, and thats a fact. We do need to conserve energy and to become more efficient, but to protest fox news for putting out commentator's disagree with man made global warming is counter productive.
  • chbeyer · 2 years ago
The human caused global warming myth is perpetrated by leftists who are looking for a boogieman so massive taxes can fund collectivist socialism. There are LEGIONS of scientists and climatologists who DO NO BELIEVE GLOBAL WARMING IS CAUSED BY HUMAN ACTIVITY but increasingly, their voices are being muffled by threats and insults. The Fascism of the left says 'the debate is over'. Let’s start collecting taxes on carbon credits and take over the energy industry with a world government consortium. When we had major hurricane activity two years ago, it was caused by global warming. Now that hurricanes have subsided, that too is caused by global warming. It seems that every malady in the world is now caused by Al Gore's un-scientific theory of man made climate change. With major news media on the side of the left in this country, we are inundated with ONE SIDED explanations of the causes of global warming. To an intelligent person, it’s all so transparent. Those driven by a socialist big government ideology, it all makes sense. Thank God for Fox News which at at the very least presents a more balanced alternative to CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN and tax payer funded socalist PBS which provide daily talking points for the DNC and Moveon.org.

Here's the wisdom "Charly" chose to share:

    <michael t="T">

It is a classic defense of the indefensible to begin with a reasonable sounding premise, something like "let's all be open minded". What is jaw droppingly inappropriate though is the fact that there is nothing about which to be open minded when it comes to climate change. Here's what the scientists at NASA said just a few weeks ago:

"Over the last five years, 600 scientists from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change sifted through thousands of studies about global warming published in forums ranging from scientific journals to industry publications and distilled the world's accumulated knowledge into this conclusion: "Warming of the climate system is unequivocal.

    . . .

But why should we worry about a seemingly small increase in temperature? It turns out that the global average temperature is quite stable over long periods of time, and small changes in that temperature correspond to enormous changes in the environment."

    http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Library/Global...

Oh, and one more thing, and you lost further rhetorical points for that limp-wristed effort at an ad hominem with your little "Liberal" label, as though just mentioning that word will both:

    1. Defeat any argument based on science and reason; and

    2. Be as scary as being tailed by a loaded Lindsay Lohan, fresh out of rehab.</michael>

    Hey albabe:

I understand the upright elitist attitude from the left. I mean you think that by driving a Prius and drinking your Starbucks in a recycled cup as you pay Al Gore's company to reduce your carbon credit that you are stopping global warming. And, that us red stater's (actually I live a Blue) or conservative are monkey knuckle dragging moron's. I am sorry I don't listen to NPR (but then who really does?)

Look, I feel that I am educated; I have a degree from the University of Wisconsin in Poli Sci and going back for my MBA. I am also in the Military as an Equal Opportunity Office. In your terms - Diversity Training and Sexual Harassment.

Here are that facts as I see it to lib's like you. You are the most closed minded - open-minded people I know. You want diversity, just not diversity of thought. If we question a belief you have - we are the close minded ones. Doesn't matter what it is. It could be global warming, the war, national defense, or even health care. If we oppose you, we are wrong. Why? Don't worry about answering, I am sure that my tiny conservative brain is no match for you intellect.

Bottom line, you’re not more enlightened. Your more closed minded, and snobbish that any con I know. By the way the batteries in your Prius are more toxic to the environment than that gas I consume. I know, because I owned a piece of crap Prius. Fire dept have to have a special team for hybrid crashes - look it up.....

If you disagree with Fox News then why don’t you just stop watching the channel? Wait a minute…that means you would have to change the channel on that big screen TV that stay on way to long. Also, you may want to consider turning off your computer that is chewing up so much energy. What about the server that runs this web site? How much energy is that using?

The reality of the American life is that we all use more than our share of energy, money, food, etc. We are arrogant and gluttonous. I do not think that we will solve this problem by attacking News Company’s for their opinions on the Global Warning topic. Nor do I think we will solve this by attacking the advertisers that use these stations. The problem with us Americans is that we are always looking at what other people are and are not doing and refuse to look at our own behavior.

So, how do we solve the Global Warming problem? Is Global Warming really a problem? Are the scientist the final authority on the state of the planet or could it be someone who has more insight on how the planet was formed? My view is simply this…The Inconvenient Truth helped me see things differently and stations like FOX, CBS, CNN, etc report on other views. Even if I agree or disagree with the views, ultimately the responsibility of my behavior lies on my shoulder.
  • PAT · 2 years ago
The media of 5 to 10 years ago was boring and yes one-sided. I'm talking CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC. But not because there was a hidden agenda. It was because they were chasing the bucks and advertisers quite frankly had no other choices. So without real competition they were free not to try something different. Well if half of the liberal bloggers here see this point then you have to accept the idea that Fox took a drastic chance to open an outlet down a different avenue for advertisers to sell their products at the time. Of course this argument may befuddle the liberals who have a major socialist agenda and say Fox also has another agenda besides making money. This is ridiculous!! FOX succeeds because people like me have had enough of the boring and yes liberal slanted "news". Why is FOX is on top with the numbers? Is that a manufactured news story to get more power? Power? Gee, give me a break. Yes power to sell more ad dollars and create another thinking public that has been fed horse manure for too long.

Another bad news report by Fox News!

Below is a link of the Discovery Channels " It Takes A Thief". Geraldo depicted this guy Jon Rainy as an expert on break ins which gave the public a false representation of what should be done to prevent such devastating occurrences. The two hosts of this show, whom I know personally are nothing but actors, never been in prison, never convicted of a crime, yet Geraldo depicted them as experts. I Kow this to be true because I auditioned on the show, and spoke with them and the producers personally. In my opinion, this show promotes break ins and gives culprits ideas .I figured Discovery channel as being deceptive for the purpose of financial gain, but for a worldwide news network and a so called top dog in broadcast news, this is despicable. I will blog this as the truth until a apology is made. Once again, proper investigation before this aired would have given you this information about this show " It Takes A Thief", which is about 2 nuts who have fun breaking into peoples places and then projecting themselves as heroes. Shame on you Fox News for allowing this to happen.

    http://blogcritics.org/archives/2005/02/02/2126...

Just in case you are wondering why I have so much animosity for this Discovery show. They lied to me, picked my brain for the show, ruined my life for a year by promising me this gig and telling me to quit my job at the time which I foolishly did, and since I was the real thing as they asked for through the audition break-down, and at the end, hired two phonies and left me with out work and mind boggled.

But it still doesn't give them the right to spread falseness through big news entities. Sorry guys, an old wound just reopened.

    More blogs to follow....

    Best regards,

I am fascinated with what you liberals call distortions by Fox News. They are one of the few places that has it correct.

You state in your video that Fox News disagrees with global warming facts. Since when does a concensus of scientist agreeing that there will be global warming be construed to be fact? It is merely a concensus.

They cannot reliably predict what will happen in the future. They cannot reliably predict the weather in my city in the next hour let alone 20 years from now.

Fox News has merely pointed this out to a large degree. There is nothing wrong with this.

If in fact, there is global warming what is the best way to cure it? CO2? No one really knows for sure. It is just something that many scientist want to try.

If and when, global warming actually becomes a fact and not a concensus. Maybe we will know how to fix it too (if indeed it needs fixing at all).
  • William · 2 years ago
What is one of the biggest sources of CO2? Animals. Let's kill all of them off and I guess we can start on the human species too! We can starve people and since we won't have animals left to eat. Let's add corn to mix because we are going to use most of the corn to put in our cars!

Yet, we don't have a clue whether ANY of this works!

The world is not the same now as it was when GOD created it thousands (NOT MILLIONS) of years ago. It will continue to change. People probably to contribute to some changes; however, do you think we can stop this now. We can slow it down. But, if the liberalists think that censoring television (taking away freedom of speech) will help, they are sadly mistaken. I am a conservative. I do not agree with everything said on FOX; however, we have a right to at least one channel among the hundreds on television today. I will support those that advertise on FOX and I will not support those that discontinue to advertise on FOX. How long has CNN been on the air. If conservatives tried to force them off the air, there would be such an uproar about freedom of speech. If you take FOX off, I want CNN off!!!!

  • Peter · 2 years ago
It seems to be that most people on this blog don't quite understand the difference between facts and opinions. Facts are what IS ACUALLY the case, while opinions are merely what you believe to be the case.
Do you people really think you know the FACTS after watching Fox, CNN, reading the paper or some climate change website? Even if you've spent years reading every climate article and watching every news broadcast on climate change, you're still just listening to people who don't really know what they're talking about (except for maybe the occasional "scientist" in the news. But how do you know the guy's even legitimate?).
You don't know the FACTS. I don't know the facts. Al Gore doesn't know the facts. Fox news doesn't know the facts. No news agency knows the facts, conservative or liberal.
The ONLY people who really know any FACTS are the ones that have spent a great deal of their lives trying to uncover them. It takes 4 years to get an undergraduate degree in a scientific discipline at most universities. Many more to get a doctorate degree, and many more to become a leading researcher in a given field. These people spend their whole lives studying some aspect of nature. Climatologists spend their lives studying the climate. They are the ones that know the FACTS, not any of you, or me.

Someone who spends their life studying something like the climate is not in it for the money.. Climatologists don't make a huge amount of money. (believe it or not, but the large research grants actually go to pay for the expensive research that goes on, such as a trip to Antarctica to drill for ice cores, not in the pockets of the scientists. In addition, it's not exactly a cushy job. Science is very intensive work, regardless of discipline. So it's not unreasonable to think that these people have a passion to understand the FACTS of the climate. Assuming that I haven't made any logical errors here... why would they make all this shit up about climate change. What is there to gain? Apparently 98% of climatologists say that climate change (in the form of a warming trend) is a FACT. And humans bare the majority of the blame
I am willing to believe that some proportion of scientists are unscrupulous enough to lie to the world in order to make some money... but 98%?
1 or 2% seems more plausible... ohh wait, that's the proportion that is still debating it.
(well I'm not 100% sure that the proportion is 98% as I didn't research it myself or obtain it from a primary source. But I am sure that the VAST MAGORITY of climatologists hold the "there is no debate" view.. look up the number yourself before tying to dispute my point here.)

Now, I'm going to repeat myself one more time...
THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO KNOW THE FACTS ARE CLIMATOLOGISTS!
Climate policy should be based on what the majority of climatologists say, not on the OPINIONS of conservatives, liberals or anyone else who pretends to know the FACTS. (I would say this seems pretty reasonable, assuming that less than 50% of climatologists are lying).
  • Tom · 2 years ago

  • Scott · 2 years ago
If we demand FOX admit their conservative bias, shouldn't we expect networks like CBS or CNN to admit a liberal bias of their own? I know many conservatives who truly believe FOX to be 'fair and balanced', and I know many liberals willing to staunchly defend CBS and CNN. My suspicion is that nearly all news networks operate in a biased fashion. If we want to call FOX on their bias, we can't afford to be naive about other news networks.
  • craig · 2 years ago
I have to agree with those who know that the "media", whoever they may be, directs and controls our perception of the world. We believe those we see as authorities on any subject and, thus, our perception is our reality. If you believe the conservatives, live with your decision. If you believe the liberals, live with your decision! Just put in the time and effort to research every facet of information outlet you can find and then try to make an educated decision.

And believe it or not, not everyone buys into Gore's attempt at making a name for himself as a "champion for the enviorment"
  • Kathy · 2 years ago
Unbelievable to me that every other media outlet is liberally biased, except FOX News, so let's attack them so that they either agree with everyone else, or better yet go away. Let's just stomp out any conservative opinions so that everyone thinks and feels like robots. Hey, let's just make this country communistic. Why even have opinions, let's let the government run the whole thing. They'll tell us what to believe and what to do. Maybe global warming exists and maybe it doesn't, I'm not convinced either way but I sure don't see a lot of changes from those liberal idiots who are out there trying to sell it, like Gore. Set an example AL and then see what happens. If Global Warming is indeed real, since when did humans become so arrogant to think that, like God, they can fix it. Hey, the sun has a few billion years left, can someone like Gore come up with a way to keep it from dying? I might actually be impressed with this one.

I think Janet does have a point - if you don't like Fox, you could choose not to watch it.

However, Presenting people with facts is one thing; but forcing people is another - As long as this site doesn't go down that route, then it's cool for them to express themselves.

Fox does get on my wick - and it's a fact that they do instigate propaganda - I'm sure we all know about the myspace censorship - but what about the Channel 4 Big Brother story, which they ran and ran - and when they suggested Carphone Warehouse pull out of sponsoring big brother - they did just that. FACT.

News Corp is acting in an injust manner. I find it funny how they dictate things - but again, it's up to an individual to react to what News Corp broadcasts.

    It's a delicate matter.

As an independant all I have to say is that for all the scientist that say global warming is happening I can find just as many that say it is not. All this hatered that i read between the GOP and the DNC is why the two parties have outlived there usefullness. Al Gore does not care about you just like Dubya does not either, or congress. When America, and everybody reading this will wake up and realize that then we can more forward, but silenceing people no matter what you think makes you no better than a common criminal. Lets worry about more important things (war, poverty, taxes) than what other people are saying. If Dems and GOP worried more about issues than what others are saying we would have solved all the world problems. This is exactly why America has a 50-60 percent voter proticipation.

Hurry libs, go pick it up and put it back where it belongs and if Fox News disagrees with the "FACT" that the sky is falling, sign a petition to have their advertisers pull out. That'll fix us "Neo-Con Right Wingers"!!

Seriously though, I've just taken the time to read several comments on these few pages and the majority of the comments are people who support Fox News and the fact that finally there is a media outlet that isn't liberal minded. It seems as though this issue isn't going to go too far and I'm happy to know that there are many others that feel the same way I do. Maybe if there wasn't so much fighting and disagreement between the dems and the republicans, more would be accomplished. The dispute with gloabal warming is based on change in climate. Nobody disputes that climates change even if man did not exist climates would change. The dispute is how much can be contributed to human beings. Trying to measure that is like trying to measure the extent of a forest fire created by someone dropping a cigarette on the ground.

It seems to me that every source that I find which isn't explicitly conservative claims that global warming is the real deal. What they say is that yes, there are natural trends of climate change, but what we're seeing is a great acceleration of warming that is to human activity.
If all the sources I've visited do have a liberal bias, please show me some sourses that don't.

What do people in the news business know about global warming? Most Scientist state that there is no other side of the issue, no longer any debate is the scientific community. People are entitled to their opinions, but these people are portraying their opinions as fact. Their jobs have nothing to do with science and they don't know what they're taking about. Global warming is a fact. The warming trend that far exceeds any natural warming is our fault. That's what the vast majority of SCIENTISTS say. They are the only authority on the issue. PERIOD.

This has got to be one of the saddest things I have ever seen or heard in my life. Why is it that everytime someone from either of the extreme sides of political thought in America disagrees with another's idea, they think it should be silenced. You would think that this being a left wing democratic website, that it would support free speach, but that is not the case.

I say if you don't like Fox News, just change the channel, that is what I do when I don't like what is on. In this day of 500+ channels of mind numbing television you can surely find something on that will entertain you. TV channels are paid by advertisers because of the number of potential customers that watch them. If less people watch, the channel receives less money from advertisers, waalaaa! Personally I will continue to watch Fox News, because I find them to be the most fair and balanced of any news channels. Notice I did not say they were fair and balanced, but the most fair and balanced.

Oh my god!!! Fox is going to take over the world! You mean to tell me someone questioned Al Gore? Who could do such a thing? She is the smartest person in the world right? There is no way anything he says could be wrong. There is no way that the hundereds of scientist that believe global warming will happen regardless of what people do could possible be right. In fact, we should all just listen to what ever people tell us and never question anything. Be good little zombies, Al Gore will guide you where you need to go.
  • Tony · 2 years ago
My point is that you moveon people always want to be able to say what ever you want, but the firs time someone questions you, you attack their right to do so. If you want to attack their arguments then fine. That is exactly what you are supposed to do. But, to try to act like they, or anyone else, doesn't have a right to question global warming or debate it, is just wrong. Sorry you live in America. If you want to rule people's every thought you are going to have to go to Russia or China. I am sure you commies would fit right in.

im saddend to find that all these conservatives think they know what global warming is. They argue as if they do, but i did not see any of them mention the OZONE. That thing that's getting destroyed, that wont come back? I'm also saddend to see how they turn the idea that the people should run tv(instead of corporations) into a censorship issue. You are seeing only what helps companys sell their product when you should be seeing the truth. What has this world come to? NEWS is supposed to be NEWS not opinion.
On Fox, the hosts of the shows have people on and they ARGUE. On cnn and all those they TALK.

A lot of our political dialogue is generated by left wing/right wing extremes. Surely – with respect to most issues – truth and reason are somewhere in the middle. So, as a general principle, is it not reasonable to allow both factions (left and right) some room for voicing their views? How else to gain access to opposing views and to thereby be able to determine a reasonable position? I think that democracy requires that there is room in our media spectrum for all viewpoints. Fox’s positions are easily balanced out by information and opinions coming from other networks and media sources. Trying to shut down Fox (or any other media source espousing alternative views) is I think a dangerous precedent.

Its very interesting that everything in that video segment was no more that 10 sec. long. its much easier to smear when you take it sooo far out of context. I remember watching a few of those with Sean Hannity in them and the segment would've had a whole new meaning had they showed the whole 8 min. interview he had. Congrats! A very honorable smear attempt. Don't get me wrong. We need to be more cautious about our environment but i don't see how its FOX's fault that cars release CO2. I do think its funny how Al Gore talks about saving the environment while he flies around in his private jet. Maybe a little hypocritical there Al. Yet he's telling us to drive Hybrids. ..ok......
  • Red Elephant · 2 years ago
Mico, They argue on FOX because FOX has the guts to bring on people from the left and right to discuss issues. Therefore giving us two sides to the story. CNN on the other hand doesn't have any arguing cause they all agree on the same liberal based issues. CNN doesn't have a strong conservative voice. You can say that FOX downplays the ozone but you can't deny that CNN downplays the terror threat. A terror threat that we've all seen with our own eyes. A terror threat that has already claimed thousands of innocent people on american soil. I'm sorry Mico, but i'm more worried about a car bomb blowing up my family or a plane jacking that kills hundreds than i am the exhaust that my truck gives off.

You know what, this is what strikes me, and you are welcome to write me back if you agree or don't agree with me :
THERE ARE SO MANY OF US,
but somehow the people that actually care about the environment are not that many.
THERE ARE SO MANY POSSIBILITIES FOR US TO GET INTO USE CARS THAT DON't USE OIL,
but somehow the people that it depends on are willing to do anything to keep their industry of
    hazardous gasses-emitting cars going.
THERE ARE LOTS OF PEOPLE WHOSE LEVEL OF COMPREHENSION IS SUPPOSED TO BE VERY GOOD ( THE INFO ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING IS EXPLAINED IN SUCH A SIMPLE WAY BY SCIENTIST ),
but there is still a great percentage of people who somehow have not understood why everything happening in the environment is liked to our "busy" lives.

HOW MANY PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN NYC for example look in the sky on the way to work ? If you live in NYC please notice and tell me can you count them on your fingers ?
OR lets say you are in a good mood and start smiling for no reason in the subway- whole bunch of different people there- THEY WILL ALL THINK YOU ARE CRAZY.

MY whole point was that by the time people force oil complanies and politicions to do something, the Earth will be already in too much pain to take any effort for help made by us. HOW CAN BE ANY DOUBT WHEN IT COMES TO THE GOOD OF THE HUMAN POPULATION ? I unerstand doubt about a little issue that don't affect so many people but issue like GLOBAL WARMING?
People live in their own little world and I admit it is easy to get captured in the every day life.
Ass the video say : " pssst... DO SOMETHING ! "

Instead of going after Home Depot that is actually trying to do something about the environment, try turning off the stupid TV if you disagree. Home Depot is trying to educate their customers and make a difference.. So what that they advertise on Fox!! Home Depot is doing the right thing.. offering the Fox viewers a way to counter the effects of global warming. The fastest way to shut up Fox is to turn the channel. If they have NO viewers, no one will advertise on Fox.
  • Red Elephant · 2 years ago
Even if you find some way to get rid of FOX, which i doubt will ever happen, I'm pretty sure cars will still release CO2.
  • Rodger Talbert · 2 years ago
There are some issues that do not have two sides to the discussion. Global warming is universally accepted by qualified scientists. Among peer reviewed publications on the subject there is no denial. The desent voices come from poorly informed public news sources that have their minds made up and seek affirmation for their opinion.

Global warming is real. If we ignore it the earth will survice and we will suffer. Fixing it does not cost us anything if we have the will. fixing it opens up many other benefits. Less lung decease, especially with children, is just one of the many health benefits of reducing the carbon footprint of humans. Business will profit from the demand for new technology. We have everything to gain by changing and nothing to lose. The only losers are those who want to continue using large amounts of dirty coal and oil.
  • Josh · 2 years ago
This is crazy. Global warming is not a issue. It is simply a propaganda tool used to get donations and votes. Its been proven that many of these so called "activists" consume themselves many times the energy of the average American. • mico · 2 years ago
hey red elephant, you really are ignorant if you think cnn down plays the terror threat more than fox. fox has substantially less showtime for the war than ANY other news station. If you watch the Doc. outfoxed i THINK it says in there AND bill-o even said that he wasnt going to dp as many stories on the war for some bullshit reason(that was posted on this site a couple weeksago) AND there will always be terrorism, there will always be extremeists but there will not always be an ozone. once thats gone its gone forever. News is about relaying the facts so the masses can find out whats happening in their world. Its not about seeing both sides of the issue, its about seeing the issue itself. The difference between fox and cnn/msnbc and all that shit is that cnn/msnbc(etc) do liberal stories(sometimes) with NO spin where as fox does conservative stories with conservative spin.
and to the guy that says liberals will never succeed, who has majority in the house of representitives AND congress?

and if fox has less viewers, but they still have huge companys like, say, home depot paying for commercials, theyll still make money. its like disciplining a child. you take away their allowance (home depot and anyone who advertises) until they promis to be fair and balanced. and instead of saying than "cnn is liberal and you just cant deal with someone disagreeing with you" say "i think cnn is a liberal news station and ill try to make them change their ways"
we dont want fox gone, we want them to stop lieing. and yes, cars will still put out co2 but if people have the facts they MIGHT realize that they dont need to drive, that they can walk or ride a bike or get a hybrid, or say "hey, what the hell happend to the electric car?" and have them brought back.

    peace out muh bruhddahz

"The Truth Is Out There" Ha Ha!
Seriously now, I agree that we could possibly be coming into a mini-Ice Age maybe not in our life time but maybe our grandchildren or great grandchildren.
However, do I think it is 100% humanity's fault, no way!

History tells us this happened long before the industrial revolution and no, the sun didn't just decide to heat things up you moron. I can't remember exactly how it happened because I'm not a history buff but I think it was due to a massive volcanic eruption that caused a decrease in temperature world wide by 3-5 degrees. This was back in the dark ages, remember the Black Plaque that caused thousands of deaths in Europe?

This was a mini-Ice Age that prompted the spread of this disease and scientists now believe that is why it spread so quickly because of sudden drop in temperature, the crops had failed, there was little to no food and it spread like the flu.

Going back further to the Vikings, they used to be able to sail from Northern parts of Scandinavia to Greenland to fish and trade but when the Mini-Ice Age happened they ended up stuck in Greenland because of the ice and snow and many of them died.

History tells us there have been many Ice ages in the past, remember the show on Discovery Channel about the frozen Wholley Mammoth and how he was frozen right on the spot with food in it's mouth.

    How can you deny this?

It happened before and it will happen again, the earth is going through a cycle as it has gone through in the past.

I'm not saying we can't do anything about ozone layer and the trees and so on, we should but it's not going to stop mother nature from doing what she has been doing since God created this planet.

    It is what it is.

Quit blaming Fox News, they are just giving another point of view that believe it or not many people agree with no matter what the liberal media polls say. Too long have we had liberal media bias in this country and it's about time we do have a cable station that speaks for the other side. Who cares! It's a free country, we Traditionalists have to stand up for our rights and what we believe in before we end up in a socialist country before it's too late!

As a student and Professor of Political Science, what really scares me is the latest tactic of the Sierra Club. Since our "War on Terrorism" we as Americans have lost many, many cival liberties. Now the Sierra Club wants to muzzle the Media and short circuit the freedom of the Press. Last year, they went on record, praising FoxNews for their alarmist coverage on Global Warming.

Let's get back to the American way. Let's hear both sides of an argument and let the People decide.

By the way, is the Sierra Club next going to attack the funding of public TV? After all, they dared show a documentary made by scientists, that stated that we are mearly in a warm spell of a general cold period.

I applaud Move On's efforts to use a right that every citizen of a capitalist country has. The boycott is a great expression of one's freedom. If all Americans would protest with their wallet we would need fewer laws. I for one will be letting Home Depot know that if they yield to the threatened boycott I will not shop there in the future. Now if will could just agree on boycotting stuff that really matters like foreign oil. Then we wouldn’t have to silence differing scientific opinions.

You think Fox news isn't biased? are you people serious? Do any of you actually watch FOX??
Bill O'Reilly is the most biased person I've ever seen on tv.
For example, did anyone see the "interview" with that guy who lost his father on 9/11? The guy had an antiwar point of view. Long story short, O'Reilly cut off the guy's mic and told him "Get out, get out of my studio before I tear you to f**king pieces!"
    now that's fair an balanced.
  • Aaron · 2 years ago
Differing scientific opinions? Yes, that is how Fox is portraying it.. but in fact, there are no different scientific opinions in the peer reviewed journals. Global warming is universally accepted by qualified scientists. Among peer reviewed publications on the subject there is no debate. The conclusions are that it IS real and that humans ARE to blame for the majority of it.
If you want to cut through the propaganda, read what reputable scientists say.
  • Adam · 2 years ago
Bill O'Reilly is a joke and an outright liar.
He just makes stuff up all the time. Like claiming multiple times that a show he had previously anchored had won a Peabody Award.. which simply is not true.
  • Aaron · 2 years ago
Bill O'Reilly constantly tries to silence people who don't agree with him. He'll have them on his show, but he hardly lets them get a word in while he spews out his views. There is absolutely nothing impartial about that sorry excuse of a human being.
And as for those who say "if you don't like it, change the channel," that isn't the point.
The point is that you're exposed to half truths and outright lies when watching that kind of crap.
People who don't know any better will believe this stuff and then tell the lies, (which they believe to be true) to others. And so emerges the view that global warming is a conspiracy, and so people try to fight any action to combat it.

The Global warming movement is the new religion. It's followers are of the same breed as the communist of the last century. And like their comrades, they are destined to fail.

Fox news is great. All other news networks are the debil. Global warming is the new hoax of this century and Al Gore will get rich from all the idiots that buy into his proprogranda. Michael Moore is a blithering idiot that couldn't find his ass with both hands. CO2 is actually "good" for the enviroment. Cows passing gas actually do more harm to the enviroment than humans do. Stop listening to CNN, NBC, ABC, and NPR, all they do is spread the myth of global warming and won't report the facts of our success in the war on terror (Iraq).
  • Peter · 2 years ago
You people are incredibly misinformed. Global warming is not a religion. It is scientific FACT.
There is no disagreement among scientist about global warming. It has NOTHING to do with religion!
The environment needs CO2, but too much of it is what's the problem.
Fox is notorious for misrepresenting the facts and outright lying. Nobody can honestly claim that Bill O'Reilly is a honest, impartial person.
Michael Moore has nothing to do with global warming. And scientists were in agreement about it long before Al Gore opened his fat mouth.
And communists? If anything, combating global warming will create new jobs and new markets. If anything, global warming is pro capitalism.
  • wade · 2 years ago
20 years ago Time magazine was reporting on the drop in temperature and how we were entering a new ice age. Now we are suppose to buy into the Global warming and mans responsibility for it. Sure, this summer is hot. But it's SUMMER! What about last winter here in Upstate New York? Never seen that much snow in my life. But the Global Warming crown had an answer for that too. Seems no matter the temperature or weather conditions, global warming is a part of it.
Yes, Global Warming is the new religion. Those who believe man is responsible believe it and nothing else. They believe they are right and anyone else who disagrees is wrong and ignorant. I dont understand why global warming has become such a strong political position. I dont know if people realize this but this Earth is millions of years old. Industry has only been around for a fraction of a fraction of this plant's existence. The Earth goes through climate phases. People are unaware of this fact and only live in the present. Our current understanding of the long-term climate cycles shows that for the past 800,000 years, periods of approximately 100,000 years’ duration, called Ice Ages, have been interrupted by periods of approximately 10,000 years, known as Interglacials. (We are now about 10,500 years into the present Interglacial.) It is frightening that this subject has become so political that it will soon decide major decisions this country will face. I remember the scares of global cooling in the 70s and 80s. There is no consensus and making it seem that there is is just wrong.

I can guarentee that people who watch FoxNews spend more money at Home Depot than the disciples of moveon.org. Maybe that has something to do with this issue.
  • I Ramirez · 2 years ago
What this all really comes down to is what you value in life. If you value luxury, money, and excess (i.e big cars, big houses, big plates of food) you're obviously not going to care about global warming or are going to side with anyone who tells you that you must change your lifestyle. I personally value the environment I live in and can't imagine there ever being a time where the surroundings that I've grown to be amazed by ceasing to exist. Truth of the matter is, the majority of trained professionals who spend their life's work studying the environment are telling us that there is a serious threat to our livelihood. It's not about politics or left and right it's about an international community of scientist, people with serious credentials, overwhelming agreeing that global warming does exist. Do you think that if a group of our nations top doctor's who specialize in cancer research warned us of a specific threat to our health we wouldn't sit up and listen and take every bit of advice to heart. Why is it that we disregard the opinion of scientist as manufactured propaganda? Maybe because we don't see global warming affecting us in our life time. And maybe we are too selfish to ever consider the person who's going to live here 100 years from now. Again I bring to question were our values lie.
  • Neil Spun · 2 years ago
Try this experiment (we are talking about science -aren't we?).
Put ice in a glass and fill with water. Let ice melt. You will notice that the level of water does not rise after the ice melted.

Your guru - Al Gore - does not even have enough sense to figure this out..

Yes, ice on land melting will flow to the oceans and raise levels a tiny bit. They will also supply the earth with much needed drinking water.
Also, if you look at the topography of Greenland you will notice that the melting ice will most probably create a very large fresh water lake.
This is how our Great Lakes were formed and also Lake Tahoe a very long time ago...

And, finally, how do you explain the global warming on Mars and the melting of the Martian Ice caps? Little green men driving SUVs..I doubt it..

It just is possible that the Sun is more active now...
  • Sam Thomas · 2 years ago
Actually, that bit about glaciers melting is an interesting point. Glaciers are actually very susceptible to complete melting. It's an auto catalytic and exponential cycle. The albedo of the glaciers is highest on the top, and as melting occurs, the older, darker glacial layers underneath melt faster. So, it's really hard to stop once it starts in earnest. Anyway, the real dangers are to places like Holland and low islands in the Indian, Atlantic and pacific oceans. Hundreds of thousands would be displaced. But thats several feet from now, which is still over 150 years away, and thats conservative. May be longer.
The real danger of global warming (that is, the warming of the earth by .8 degrees celsius +/- .3 degrees) is the change it could have on global systems. The gulf stream, for example, could be stopped by a few degree differential in air in Europe. And if the gulf stream stops, then Europe will become more like Canada, Russia, etc, because the gulf stream is what makes Europe so warm comparable to the rest of the latitude around their area. Anyway, that's that.
Now, as far as the cause to the confirmed global warming, the earth is currently in an interglacial period referred to as the Holocene, which has lasted about 10,000 years. This is the time since the last ice age. Now, it's about time, judging from ice core samples (which may or may not be reliable, since we don't know the conditions of the ice where the cores are taken was 10,000 years and 100,000 years ago) we are about due for another Ice Age. But, we're overdue. Why? Many theories have been put forth, but I think the best one, and the probably correct one is the agriculture theory. When Humanity sat down and decided to become sedentary, that is, 3-5k B.C. there was a rise in the methane levels. Now, methane comes from decaying biological matter. So, there was an understandable spike in methane as people became more numerous and animals were domesticated, etc. And the earth, which should have been going into a glacial period, stopped, and actually continued to be warm and be hospitable. Good times for humanity. We know all this thanks to methane in ice cores, btw. Anyway, so thats a good thought on global warming. Do we know it's because of humanity? No, we don't. The 2,000 or so climatologists and paleoclimatologists in the world don't all agree. It's more split than one would think. (The number is not 20,000, as some report. Members of the AGU are not all climatologists, but many study specific aspects). So, climate change is happening. Not too drastically yet, but maybe more so later. And what causes it? No one is sure sure. And anyone who says they have found the answer is lying. Also remember, in the time of the dinosaurs, the earth was a full 6 degrees celcius(about 11 degrees Fahrenheit). So, we're not turning into Venus, people(which, by the way, was caused by Volcanoes)

The basic fact is that Fox news is afforded the freedom to enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought. It is up to us to know when we are being lied to but that would mean we need to be educated enough to be able to determine if what we are being told is correct. Just like reading is a prerequisite to succeed in todays society the knowledge of basic science will be required for us to have a fruitful future.

It is amazing that people can not grasp the most simple of concepts these days. For example, we have an economic system that requires growth year after year for our economy to be considered successful while at the same time the resources needed to fuel and grow our economy is finite. I mean at one point in time our resources will run out and that will cause great economic depressions. It may happen sooner than many people think but one thing is for sure IT WILL HAPPEN. If we don't deal with it now we or our children will most certainly suffer the consequences in future. We could make changes now that would minimize the harmful effects this situation will cause us or our children in future but we must first admit to our selves the reality of our situation.

When the fuel needed to produce our food and economic growth runs out it will cause mass starvation and economic upheaval. The human suffering will be huge all around the world. As humans we have the capacity of foresight that can alert us to this inevitable situation, but we also seem to have the capacity to be selfish enough to deny the inevitable in order to continue to enjoy our current life style without guilt or regret. It really is that simple and we need no scientists to understand that our children will suffer due to our selfishness today. I am one of those selfish people who enjoy my wealth but I know I am hurting future generations by buying into the spin of the most greedy or the most wealthy among us. Go see the movie sicko which will give you an idea of what I am talking about. While it is not readily apparent to many our current system has run amok and needs some serious tweaking. And that is not a partisan issue but a societal issue which all of us need to tackle no matter what side of the fence you are on.

    Debunk..
About ice melting in a glass, it all depends how much ice is above the top of the glass. So, if you fill the glass (say a five inch glass) to the top, then you have three inches of ice above the rim, you will have 3 inches of water overflow the glass. There is enough ice "above" the current sea level, that if it melts, will surely raise the sea level. Several islands have ALREADY disappeared. Do your homework, it is true.

Next, about Mars. I'm really sick of hearing this type of stupidity. Just because two bodies are warming, and humans play no role in the warming of one of those bodies, does not mean that they play no role in the warming of the other. Same as arguing, earth is a sphere, earth houses humans, therefor, all spherical planets house humans. PLEASE! Repeat third grade! A implies B, B implies C does not mean A implies C! Get it? I didn't think so, as mentioned, repeat third grade.

Finally, the ignorance of the "20 years ago they said an ice age was coming", now they say warming, needs little example to dispel, but here goes. At one point someone said, hey, hell no you idiots are wrong, the earth revolves around the sun. I'm sure plenty of you would have argued that, hell, just twenty years ago they told us different. So, they were wrong, wtf?

Why would he want to be President, he'll be far richer by promoting poison. I'd consider global warming and I'd even consider that it is caused by mankind. But I would never buy this drivel spouted by the likes of Al Gore... If ANY of you were serious about global warming you'd immediately give up all fossil fuels UNILATERALY. I have a "NEGATIVE" carbon footprint by all calculators. BTW - If we build a NUCLEAR power plant we can shut down the filthy coal burner in Colorado Springs. Gee. Amazing how clean the air is here at 6,000ft above sea level, with 1/3 the atmosphere as sea level?? How could it be with MOST of the electricity produced by COAL. Another thought.. How is it that some "zero polluting" electric car is so good. Especially if we have to burn more coal to produce more electricity. GO NUCLEAR

I don't know if anyone saw this or not but the number of major storms predicted this year has gone down from 14 to 3. Plus 1998 being the hottest year on record was also proved to be incorrect. Before you attack on either side of the argument can we get solid facts.

Well lets see . . . the topic of global warming has been in the news on a fairly regular basis for the past several years . . . you guys cherry pick some sound bites of people questioning global warming from Fox . . . . what you miss though is that Fox always provides the pro and con on these issues which is something no other media outlet does . . . I also love the quote that they misinform and criticize the concept of global warming . . . look in the mirror . . . if they are doing it you are right there with them on the other side

I am flabbergasted that those who claim to be "liberal" thinkers are so anxious to quiet any dissent on what is an important issue. The existence or non-existence of global warming and mankind's role in it should be the subject of a scientific study, not a political debate.

But, we have come to a point where political lines in the sand have been drawn, so no real scientific inquiry is possible. It is a shame that such an important issue has to be flipped one way or the other based on politics. The impact, whichever way it goes, could be costly.

Let's have the debate. Let's hear both sides, and most importantly, let's let science decide the issues, not politics.
  • slashdevslashmouth · 2 years ago
You Fox lovers really should give the "both sides of the argument" bs a rest. It is not the medias job to give both sides of an argument, it simply means they are guaranteed to be wrong half the time. Do you need both sides 2+2=4, so you want fox to give equal time to the 2+2=5 crowd? Facts have always had a liberal bias. The facts on global warming come from the same system, methods, practice, and peer review process that have given you the best medicine in the world, engineering that demands 2+2 always equals 4, space travel, computing power you seem only to be able to use to type troll like rants about liberals, the THEORY of FLIGHT, CALCULUS, RELATIVITY, EVOLUTION and the like, but for some reason when global warming is involved you want "both sides". Did you get both sides of the "Mission Accomplished" story on Fox?
  • Brian · 2 years ago
Ok, watched the video. Fox has a number of scientists and other investigators claiming the 'climate crisis' is a hoax. And all you have to offer is 'they're just lying', we're right and you're wrong'. What is this, an elementary school playground? Do you have anything of substance to show they are lying? If you do, which I seriously doubt, you sure don't show it here.
  • slashdevslashmouth · 2 years ago
Are you seriously talking about the video on this page? Your "scientist and other investigators" are John Stahostile, Neal Cuvoodo, various other talking heads? One of the only real scientist only questioned humans role in causing it.
So, in that case, I am saying it.
    2+2 is not 5, "they're just lying".
    2+2 is 4! "we're right and you're wrong".
    See you on the playground.

Some little known facts about “An Inconvenient Truth”.

The term “Global Warming” was made up by the comedy writers of the television program “Northern Exposure” and was first mentioned in their 4th season in the episode titled “On your own” which originally aired on 11-9-1992. They also used the term “Carbon footprint” and the fact that cow flatulence was a major contributor to the problem.
    Look it up.

the fox haters as do the fox lovers have one thing in common, they are passionate about politically motivated news.as far as climate change the right being big business driven and pro oil has to be anti climate change.things have to stay the same or a down turn in oil consumption will lead to lower oil profits. Why dont we get excited about profits in renewable resources related companies? Many on the left are. Maybe G.O.P. really does stand for "grand oil party".why did the bushies have a 10k tax deduction on only the largest of S.U.V.s,(cuz rushbaugh drives one?)but very small deductions on fuel saving vehicles?Dont they say tax cuts are great?make high fuel mileage vehicles as cheap as other vehicles through tax cuts/rebates and lets quit sending oil dollars to the terrorists.of all the things that bush does that angers me the most, its saying things need to stay the same and things are great.Things are great to all his oil buddies here and abroad

    Derek,
I had a college professor using the term in 1989.
And, talk about an inconvenient truth, why are there so many flatulent cows? Because we all love milk, cheese, and steak! This humans aren't the cause, cows are bs is just that bs. No rational person cares if humans are the cause, THE ONLY QUESTION IS CAN HUMANS BE PART OF THE SOLUTION!

I'm not sure who to blame, but it's unfortunate that this debate has (in North America, at least) been reduced to whether or not man-made global warming is a reality. Smog warnings in ever-increasing numbers are a reality. Rising rates of asthma and other respiratory illnesses - traceable, in part, to man-made pollution - are a reality. The cancer epidemic, quite possibly due to overexposure to petrochemicals and other pollutants, is a reality.A dwindling, and much fought over, oil supply is a reality. The debate about man-made global warming is disingenuous and overshadows other, equally important and far less debatable issues. There are plenty of good reasons to pursue fossil fuel alternatives. No need to get bogged down in one repetitive discussion.

It sickens me to see how good Fox is at taking an issue and spinning it in whatever way they want to. And, their theory seems to be, if people hear misinformation long enough, they will start to believe it is true (i.e. Iraq's supposed Weapons of Mass Destruction).

And when I hear people making fun of polar bears drowning...well, it kinda makes me hope that they get attacked by one in their sleep.

They just don't seem to care. Now, if polar bears were turning GAY, instead of drowning...they might shut down a factory or two. And then try to pass some sort of constitutional ammendment baning gay polar bears from our country. (That would really mobilize the evangelical conservative base)

Heres a quick story. Starbucks refused to send coffee to our trips when they were asked to. Why? Because they are against the war in Iraq. They refused to support our troops (our troops don't have much of a choice to be over in Iraq)and denied them something that would help them while they are over there. I support our troops and think what Starbucks did was wrong so what did I do? I quit going to starbucks and quit giving them my money. You bitch and complain about what fox said or did, what should you do? Quit watching it and giving them the viewing numbers. You have your freedom of speech but quit forcing your ideas on the Americans that watch the station because they agree with what the reporters say. You guys would be beyond pissed if we were to force CNN to stop talking about global warming because we didn't believe in it. If you don't agree with it fine, don't watch it, stick to CNN and leave Fox alone so we can get the news how we want it.

Why is the G.O.P.behind,NOT increasing fuel mileage? Why is the G.O.P. against decreasing oil consumption?Isnt the most Important issue,National security?Dont we send money to the very people that want us dead and use our own money against us?Why dont we see $10,000 tax rebates for low fuel consumption vehicles instead of over sized S.U.V.'s???Thats a biggie right there.Lets give 10,000 thou to those that use extra fuel????Why the hell dont we give 10,000 thou to those that want to save fuel, and not send money to our arch rivals,(you mean dont patronize our enemies?)The GOP and fox/sky have made the environment an issue,so they can take attention off the fact,we as a nation have done nothing to curb our oil habit, nothing at all!!!!that is treasonous, and cheney should be Impeached.

I did not read all the posts before posting my last one so I would like to add that i'm not saying global warming is a hoax, the point I was trying to make is that global warming just isnt that important to me. Call me selfish or whatever judgment you would like to make but don't force my choice of news to stop talking about something. I don't want to hear about global warming and after watching the video I still don't believe that global warming is a hoax. My personal belief is that its being exagerated but thats just it, its my personal belief and opinion, and i'm not trying to change your mind and i'm not telling you to quit believing what you want to, but again I will say don't punish a news station because you don't agree with them, those who watch Fox watch it because they share the same ideas with them, just like you watch your prefered news programs because you agree with their ideas.
  • Steve · 2 years ago
    Jennifer,

Well stated. It doesn't appear that either side will be convincing either side to change their minds or offer enough evidence to prove each other wrong. In order to believe that man has anything to do with our climate, he/she has to wonder why hurricanes, earthquakes and flooding cannot be stopped. In order to believe that man has nothing to do with climate, he/she has to accept that nature’s history of activities are just those, natural?

Global warming is a real and natural component to our planet. Hasn’t there been a few ‘ice ages?’ Man made global warming? I have to ask, “Compared to what?” What is the benchmark climate in which some scientists have chosen to gauge our current environment? What has been the recorded “ideal climate?” I certainly haven’t ignored past pollution problems with automobiles, factories and human debris. Who hasn’t supported anti-pollution standards? Haven’t we all done our part to stop litter, to recycle plastic/paper/aluminum and to enforce clean emission standards for automakers? If our efforts to-date hasn’t made a positive impact, how can we believe that additional measures will have the desired affect? If our efforts have made a positive impact, then what are we talking about here?

    Have a great week.
  • Steve · 2 years ago
    Mr. Jarboe,

My guess, with respect to your assertion that the GOP is ‘against decreasing oil consumption’ and ‘not increasing fuel mileage’, is that the GOP is more concerned about utilizing our own resources rather than being dependent on foreign suppliers and it appears that the fed is seeking alternatives to fossil fuels that may have an unintended negative impact. For example, with the use of corn as a fuel ingredient, the price of that grain has already grown. This forces food manufacturers and consumers to re-evaluate their nutritional strategies. What will happen when flour generated food becomes too expensive?

We could also examine the cost of the energy that it takes to manufacturer a hybrid automobile that uses supplementary battery power. Mining the ingredients that make up the battery cells, the energy that it takes to ship the ingredients to the battery manufacturers and the amount of energy it takes to produce/package/ship the product to the automaker may prove to be counter productive to the final intended use of the mileage saving car. The best of intentions do not always guarantee the desired results.

I am puzzled as to how having an “oil habit” may be categorized as “treasonous?”
  • slashdevslashmouth · 2 years ago
    Steve,
Let's see, "Haven’t we all done our part to stop litter, to recycle plastic/paper/aluminum and to enforce clean emission standards for automakers?" I don't know; maybe, you have something to do w/ enforcing emission standards, but I doubt it. Unless, you're another incompetent Bush crony? Which would mean you have done nothing. Oh, the wisdom of this beauty, "If our efforts to-date hasn’t made a positive impact, how can we believe that additional measures will have the desired affect?" But of course, if you toss your newspaper into the recycle bin, what else can you do?? I guess your efforts to date on mastering haven't vs. hasn't haven't made a positive impact, so why don't you just give up on the English language? Glad you weren't in charge of the Manhattan Project or the Moon shot!! So ignorant my head is going to explode. According to you, our government, automakers, & oil companies that have been self regulating for years under lil' bush have imposed such clean air standards, that if they don't work, you're ready to claim we've done all we can do? Quick, you better get back to your viewing of Fox News now that you have finished your global cooling efforts!

    slashdevslashmouth,

Brilliant response! I yield to your obvious superiority! Your reply has really cut me to the quick. I have been humbled beyond measure. My opinion has so little to contribute. I suppose I will continue to do my ‘robotic’ best and continue to recycle, make sure my car is maintained so I get the maximum mileage, exercise measures in my home to reduce my utility consumption and limit my vacation travels. You will be disappointed to know that I’ll continue to write in a way that attempts to demonstrate a desire to discuss ideas and learn from others rather than name-calling and showing my apparent ignorance of today’s key cultural topics.

If I could cool the globe, I’d do it just to show I don’t spend all of my time saving energy and watching Fox News. I believed that everything I brought up were actions that each of us were supposed to do in response to environmental issues and concerns. I have been corrected and patiently look forward to the very next English lesson. May I ask that the next time you are compelled to dress-me-down, please do not sugar-coat it. Perhaps I do not deserve to be exposed to such enlightenment so by all means, be gentle.
  • Jennifer · 2 years ago
Thank you for the response and I would just like to clarify that I am not here to change the minds of those who visit this site when it comes to global warming. I do believe that man has done their part when it comes to global warming but as I had said, I believe it is exagerated. I am here in hopes to change their minds in forcing Fox to quit being opionionated. I am a republican and find Fox more enjoyable than other news broadcasts and it hurts me to know that because a few liberals don't agree with them that these liberals are punishing them. As I had said before I don't agree with everything that CNN says but I don't throw a hissy fit about it I change the station to a more enjoyable channel. And I do watch CNN periodically that way I can get both sides of the news. Fox is my primary station but its nice to hear the other side because I will be the first to admit that Fox isnt fair and balanced as they say, but once more I will repeat myself when I do watch CNN if their is something I don't agree with or find insulting I simply change the station. I don't go out and try to force advertisers to quit supporting the station or sign petitions to get them to quit talking about things that I dont agree with. The television is full of things that could offend people, for example Comedy Central has several of them, there is the Daily Show with John Stewart, The Colbert Report, South Park, the Mind of Mencia, and Lil' Bush. All of these are very offending to some and others wont agree with it however most see what it is...comedy, I find them hilarious. And thats what Fox is.. a news station. Yes you might not agree with it or might get offended by it but that is no reason to get your panties in a wad about it. Its the freedom of speech, we are all adults, so deal with it. If it was your only choice of news available then i would completly understand getting upset about it, but when you have unlimited choices to get news and reports (radio, newpapers, magazines, fox, cnn, local news, etc.) there is absolutly no reason what so ever to attack one specific news broadcast station. I am not here to piss anyone off or sway your opinion on global warming i'm simply trying to ask that you leave Fox alone.

If Fox News were to have poor ratings, you would find sponsorships/advertisers tough to come by. The free market tends to dictate the success or failure of a product or service. I think that if someone feels strongly about a poor news presentation, like Jennifer, simply change to a network that reports news in a way that is to your liking.

Talk radio has many successes and several failures. This has more to do with ratings than any other factor. CNN viewer-ship is down for a reason. Their audience has sought out and found alternative news sources. The 'fairness' idea should be limited to the ebb and flow of the free market and not 'regulated' by agenda driven government representatives. Fairness is the freedom/access to engage with no guarantee of success. Air America is an example of a good idea that couldn't hold enough ratings to attract advertisers so they closed their doors. PBS and NPR should be held to the same type of standard. If we are to be fair, they should be permitted to compete without government assistance/subsidies. Competition drives programming/content. The arena of ideas is a great place to interact and learn from each other. This is what makes these blogs an important vehicle for the exchange of ideas.

    Steve & Jennifer,
If you are so intent on us just changing the channel, why don't you just change your web page? Letting a company know you will not buy from them if they continue funding propaganda is just a more direct way of having our voices heard. As to your comment about comedy central, that is the point, if you call it Fox Comedy, or more to the point, Fox Opinion or Fox Propaganda fine. But, if you call it something it's not, like say news, then I have every right to call them and their supporters on it. Like I said, why don't you just go to a pro Fox web page to do your gushing?
  • slashdevslashmouth · 2 years ago

    slashdevslashmouth,

I like to engage in conversations with those of different view points. Why else would I venture into this arena?

Gushing? Not really. Rather an attempt to gain some insight into opposing views. By all means, send notice to advertisers. My point to simply change the station/channel may have greater value when ratings slip. Sponsors rely on ratings to help guide advertising strategies.

I don't limit my news gathering to sources that present information one way or another although I do gravitate to sites/channels that make sense and don't appear to be agenda driven. I wouldn't, for example, be in this post chain unless I started out reading MoveOn articles. Would you be anti-Fox News if you hadn't visited the site or watched a broadcast?

This video made the following assertions regarding "Fox" and "Republicans":

"They attack scientific facts with falsehoods."
    "So-called experts attack scientific studies."
"They attack and smear those they disagree with."
    And, "...the lies continue."

The producers of this video have ultimately done an injustice to their cause. The makers cut and spliced together a video full of out-of-context clips, and in doing so managed to brilliantly contradict themselves multiple times in less than two-and-a-half minutes. The video casts aside intelligent debate and instead lends itself to the very attacking and smearing that it claims Fox and Republicans use. While it claims that Fox and Republicans disregard "scientific facts" and "scientific studies," the video fails to inform its viewers just what the "facts" and "studies" are. ARE all scientists in agreement with global warming? HAVE all studies reached the same conclusion? The answer is a resounding NO.

    One example...

NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) in February 2007 published a study that "showed" 2005 as the hottest year since "the late 1880's" and that the five warmest years have all occurred in the last decade. HOWEVER they have now admitted that the study was incorrect, as it used flawed data.

Here is the original data and graph published by NASA, using incorrect data:
    http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs/Fig.D_...

Now compare this with the re-published data and graph, which look like this: data.giss.nasa.gov

Quite different, isn’t it? Notice how only three (vice nine) of the hottest 10 years were in the last decade? In fact, four of the hottest 10 years occurred in the 1930’s, with the hottest year being 1934.

Here's the catch...the original February study made the top headlines, serving as further “proof” to millions of people. But the corrected study came nowhere close in the headlines. CNN.com doesn’t even cover it. My guess is that the only people aware of this updated study are those people that resist the mindless propaganda delivered by videos like this one.

So where are the media now? If this is in fact a scientific study, and if NASA is in fact a credible source, why not do the responsible thing and make it known to the general public? It seems as if the most ardent proponents of global warming have done some of their own attacking of scientific facts with falsehoods. Choosing to only cover global warming when "scientific studies" support their arguments is a despicable and irresponsible way to fight for an otherwise-noble cause.

No Republican wants to destroy the environment. Personally, my problem with this issue is that many supporters of global warming seem to blindly accept only the studies or "evidence" that supports their beliefs. Regardless of whether or not global warming theory is true, the fact is that addressing the supposed causes of it involve significant changes to the way the United States functions as a country. It seems to me that many of these people have put little or no thought into the consequences of dramatically changing US domestic or foreign policy over a theory that may not be entirely correct.

Our system of government grants us liberties and freedoms that are unimaginable in other parts of the world. But those freedoms and liberties are dependent on an educated public that can make informed decisions. Reverting to unintelligent bloviating and politicking will drive this country further apart, polarizing more people and ultimately leading to an increase of thoughtless propaganda from both sides of the isle. Please stop taking everything you hear or read in the news as the absolute truth, because as a former journalist I can tell you myself that much of what is printed is, in fact, flawed. Reporters, politicians and scientists are all human, and humans are innately opinionated and susceptible to err.

Furthermore, before attacking this post or myself I challenge you to THINK for yourself on this issue. If Global Warming is indeed a reality, then we will need a responsible public to help responsible public decision-makers find a solution. This video does nothing to put us closer to that point, and only harms our cause.

    Signed,
    Chris

I think that in America you have all become to used to news networks who do not challenge the way you think. For a network to keep pushing the opinions of its cast members, especially when they are based on untrue facts is plain evil. To open peoples minds to debate, present the facts and remain unbias is the real job of the media. O"reilly makes at least 1-2 absolutely false statements per show. This is not only immoral but just plain counterpoductive to getting people to debate the issues fairly.

What on earth could be so bad about NOT pumping car fumes into the air? or recycling our newspapers and not just trashing them!? Why would a news network want to sabotage something that helps us live in harmony with the planet and get people fuel to justify over-using fuels and resources saying "the global warming guys are all just plain wrong!" "I saw it on FOX"!!!

Chris, if all you are upset with is that people just plainly accept all the scientific evidence thats out there and take it as fact, then let me ask you this. Do u think that the way we are using up valuable resources here (regardless of global warming), cutting down trees, depleting our natural waterways, burying nuclear waste in the ground, and I can go on for hours. Do you chris think it is soo bad that people are getting behind this issue? I personally could'nt care less if its the cause of global warming or not, but what I do care is why the hell does my neighbor need a 5.7 liter Hemi??? and why do we have to destroy so much as a species to continue, we are becoming a vermin to this planet and it seems to be reacting to this rash of cities and populations that pilaging it for resources.

Several of you failed to understand my comments. I am not here to argue about global warming I have made my views on that clear, I believe its man made but the danger of it is exagerated. One individual made the comment to Steve and myself and I quote "If you are so intent on us just changing the channel, why don't you just change your web page? Letting a company know you will not buy from them if they continue funding propaganda is just a more direct way of having our voices heard." I don't leave this website because all of you are still signing the petitions. If you want your voices heard a say you will not buy from them that is fine and that is your choice not to buy from them just like it is your choice not to watch Fox news. However, you are not just telling a company that you refuse to buy from them, this website is attempting to force Home Depot into stopping all funds through advertising on Fox news. I don't agree with what Starbucks did and I told them that I will not be supporting them anymore, I didn't go off and have a little hissy fit by trying to shut the company down or threaten anyone that still drinks there. In that example Fox would be Starbucks and Home Depot and other advertisers would be the starbucks coffee drinkers. What you guys are doing is the same thing if I was to threaten to steal everyones first child who drinks starbucks from now on. Yes that was a little exagerated but you get my point. Another comment was made not directly towards me but in general about us (anti-christ) republicans. Yes I am republican but I am not anti-christ. I am a christian and to try and stereotype republicans as being anti-christ would be like me calling all democrats murderers for being pro-abortion. But I am not here to stereotype or call names or offend anyone and I would appreciate it if everyone would act like adults in this matter and show your guests the same courtesy whether you want us here or not. Once again I will say the point i'm trying to make is to just leave Fox alone. CNN has bashed republicans and their views on numerous occasions but you don't see us trying to stop their funding from advertising companies. Rant and rave all you like tell the world about it, don't shop at Home Depot anymore but stop trying to bully them into not supporting Fox anymore just because you didn't like something that was said on Fox.

Global warming may or may not caused by people. No one can prove it one way or another. If it's true, it's time to find a solution. The problem is simple: overpopulation. The solution is complicated: how to educate people about the benefits of birth control, how to deal with religious fanatics who want to eliminate it.
We have 7 billion people turning irreplaceable resources into garbage. How long can this be sustained? Instead of changing our lifestyle by eliminating all the fun, we should make fewer babies, gradually reducing the population to a reasonable level.
If we cannot do it, we're doomed.

I came across some interesting information lately so I though I would share it with everyone here.

Carol Browner, Al Gore’s handpicked US EPA administrator presented a final ‘annual performance report’ that you may find interesting. She stated,

“Between 1970 and 1999, total emissions of the six principal air pollutants decreased 31 percent…These improvements occurred simultaneously with significant increases in the nation’s population, economic growth and travel and are a result of effective implementation of clean air laws and regulations, as well as enhancements in the efficiency of industrial technologies.”

Is there global warming? Absolutely. I understand that to-date it has been measured to be ½ of a degree over the past 100 years. Does the sun have an impact on global warming? Absolutely. Does man have an impact on global warming? Considering that the number one ‘greenhouse’ gas in the atmosphere is vapor and it makes up 95% of the air we breath, I would say that man has very little to do with global warming. Does man have an impact on our lands? Yes indeed and our representatives have spent my lifetime (52 years so far) cleaning it up and exercising measures of better waste and emissions controls. According to Ms. Browner, we are seeing more signs of success than failure.

If hyper liberal/socialist governments have a better plan to manage their citizen’s lives and their own environments, would it make sense that we should have found a virtual ‘garden of Eden’ behind the iron curtain when the Berlin wall came down? Are the sanitation and environmental standards better anywhere else in the world? Do other countries look after their lands any better than we do? If we are so bad, why are there any immigration problems to talk about? If we are so bad, shouldn’t those who feel that way be inclined to seek alternative places to live?

I don’t choose to buy or drive a huge SUV for economic reasons rather than whatever environmental impact that they present. What would be the perfect climate? What climate are we comparing to that says we are all going to starve or suffocate in the future? If our globe became warmer, wouldn’t that open up farmlands further north and offer agricultural opportunities in new areas? Could this mean more corn, cleaner fuels, and cheaper prices for both?

Fox News sounds as though they are simply presenting alternative points of view. Can this be why pro-man made-global warming pundits are upset?

Fodder for thought. Have a great day everyone.

    Stan,

Over population? Roe vs. Wade provided you with the ultimate over population solution. It is estimated that over 40 million unborn American lives have been ‘conveniently’ snuffed out in the name of birth control. Religious fanatics wish to ‘eliminate’ what? Birth control? My guess is that even non-religious fanatics believe that killing unborn children is wrong.

This ‘sky is falling’ over population theory was supposed to show devastating results in the 1980’s. It never happened. This whole idea about people living longer must be of great concern as well.

If 7 billion people are turning irreplaceable resources into garbage, why shouldn’t we change our lifestyles to help overcome some of those problems? Oh, that’s right, you don’t want to stop having fun. Please, after an evening of fun, define “reasonable population levels.”

Those with whom I disagree are never told to shut up. I say, speak loudly; yell your opinions from the roof tops. If I am truly correct in my beliefs, those who differ and aren't silenced will only bring more to my side of an issue. So I say, let Fox yell whatever they want. There are far too many choices today and way too little a chance that biased reporting will go unchallenged. So let Fox be. ABC is biased; so is NBC, CBS, CNN, BCC, slate.com, drudgereport.com, etc. Let them be. Are you that insecure about learning truth, or about having your own views dispelled, that you have to shut someone/thing up? If it wounds an ego to find out he or she is wrong, so what. I doubt Thomas Jefferson et. al. gave a damn about anyone's ego when the words "abridging the freedom of speech" were inserted in the first amendment to the Constitution, and this includes the speech of Fox and anyone else. Even with all the spoon-fed nonsense in the media, we're still thought-capable citizens; not robots. If Fox misleads, we can search out other sources and figure it out ourselves. We don't need anyone telling Fox to shut up because the reports out of Fox abrade another's beliefs or opinions.
  • Stan · 2 years ago
    Steve,

Why don't you tell us your idea of overpopulation. How many billions of people can the Earth supply with space and food and essential goods? 10 billion? 100? a trillion?
What kind of quality of life we're looking at? Are we going to live like rats or robots?
When your God allegedly told Noah: "multiply, and replenish the earth" it was after the Flood, with only a boatful of creatures. Maybe God would say something different today, but no one is listening.
I'd rather see a happy and free world than a crowded one.

These cut n' paste messages are just as misleading (even more) as the network you so obviously hate. I can say that during their radio program Fox radio puts an message on how to combat global warming on just about every commercial break. Things including cutting down on driving (ride bike, etc), collecting and re-using rainwater, reserve produce with local farmers, and many many many more. You know it's so damn easy to create a website called "Fox Attacks" and basically nearly fabricate your own interpretation of the network's bias as that of an war mongering evironment destroyer. Go spend your time playing video games.

Although the comment was directed towards me i'm going to comment on it anyway. I am refering to the comment Stan left to Steve. The world can produce enough food for as many people as it needs to. The Malthus's theory which was written back the 1700's stated that the world become too overpopulated and would not produce enough food. For example he believed that today for every person there would be one unit of food, 25 years from now for ever 2 persons there would be 2 units of food and 50 years from now for every 4 persons there would be 3 units of food and so on. However his theory has been disproven. Experts such as Esther Boserup and Simon Kuznets state that a larger population could stimulate economic growth meaning production of more food and help with more ideas for improving technology which would therefore offset scarcity of minerals and arable land by using existing resources more efficiently and substituting new resources for scarce ones. Besides hunger (along with a few other things such as poverty and social welfare) is caused by the lack of economic development not population growth. One other things I would like to add is that a larger population of consumers would generate a greater demand for goods, which results in more jobs. Even if all of this was able to be disproven there is also the Natural Increase rate, which is the Crude Birth Rate subtracted by the Crude death rate. As long as there is humanity upon this earth there will most likely be a balance between life and death unless technology takes as far as to develop a "live forever" potion. Because of our advanced technology the Crude death rate compared to the Crude birth rate isnt balanced equally, they are able to save more babies at birth and allow the elderly to live longer, however the Natural increase rate isnt so far off balance that it is any harm to us. People still die and even with our advanced technology we can not save everyone, so it balances it out and even as a young species we are so advanced that we would beable to handle an overpulation growth unless it somehow happened overnight. My source was my text book from my intro to human geography class from this last summer. The book is called "An Introduction to Human Geography: The Cultural Landscape" eighth edition written by James M. Rubenstein.

I would also like to add one more thing tonight. I took matters into my own hands, instead of continuing to try and talk everyone into leaving Fox alone I have begun to contact their advertisers myself thanking them for supporting one of the greatest news broadcast stations available to us today. The response so far looks as though its on Fox fans side.

    From: honda@shonda.com
    Jennifer,
I just received an e-mail from them and immediately sent them (jennifer note: them as in protesters) to my blocked senders list.
Oh, by the way, I’m a republican and proud of it!

    From: info@luscobrick.com
    Thank you for your e-mail.
We did receive an e-mail threatening boycott of our company. However our TV advertising is non-ideological. We just glad that people are seeing it! We also run it on the NBC affiliate and some other cable channels – maybe even CNN and we have no control over what programming it is aired with.
    Thanks again.

    from: comments@ komo1000news.com
Thanks for your support. And thanks for listening. DK

So how about everyone that is on Fox' side send a quick e-mail or two to the advertisers and show your support? If you would like to call instead or have to that would probably be ok but keep it brief since most buisnesses would rather have their phone lines open for buisness calls.
  • Stan · 2 years ago
Here's how it goes. If Fox is lying and misleading the public, that makes Fox an ideal network to advertise on. Why? Because if you're a company selling cheap Chinese-made crap, like most American companies do these days, you need to spend some money on manipulating consumers.
Now if Fox is successful in manipulating their viewers to believe everything they are shown and told, it also applies to commercials.
I don't say that Fox is any better or worse than the rest of the US media. It's all bad.
We make great cartoons, a few decent movies, but when it comes to our news media, we have nothing to be proud of. Most Americans are kept comfortably numb, unaware of the real problems, not to mention having any clue of what's happening in the rest of the world. Our economy depends on uneducated consumers, just like our politicians depend on uneducated voters.
We are a bunch of fat and dumb sheep, scared of all the wrong things, and keep asking our good shepherd, the government to lock us up, to make us feel safe.
    It's working.

It all boils down to what Reagan did in 1988 bowing to pressure from the right: "Abolishing the Fairness Doctrine" which allowed channels like Fox News and Rush Limbaugh to exist. 92% of radio talk show hosts are right wing persuasion. Public airwaves belong to the public and the fairness doctrine must be restored. Insist that the presidential candidates promise to restore the fairness doctrine and bust the 5 media monopolies which control our thought process.

Lol... so funny it made me cry... one expert actually said "nucular". As Family Guy said, "the h is silent"
Anyway, let's get to the facts.
FACT 1 : the climate has changed. Not only in the US, but all over the world. Watch some international news, folks.
FACT 2 : Although the change in climate has been predicted to take place in the near future (look up ice ages - yes, ice ages, they are connected), the change we witness is NOT supposed to be that dramatic and rapid. The true experts (biology, geology professors in universities worldwide) wil all agree on that.
FACT 3: The changes started to develop faster since the Industrial Revolution (which, btw, did not start with GM, but in Great Britain, 1800)
FACT 4: the global warming and the huge snow blizzards are CONNECTED. Dah. Any geology student will be able to tell you that.

Sorry for my english. I am not a native speaker, and do not live in the US, therefore I will be sitting comfortably in my armchair watching tv when the entire southern US becomes a desert and the great Water Wars will tear down this great country, oh some 25-30 ys. from now. But don't be jealous; my time will probably come soon after that.

    Jesus saves! Stupidity dooms.

why don't you ask the thousands of scientist who are silenced on global warming. remember the 1970's when the same experts told us we are heading for another ice age. 'the bigger the lie, the more people will believe it. the earth had warmer temperatures in the 40's. before you jump on the global warming myth do some research.
  • John Ehrenfeld · 2 years ago
Vince sadly you are very uninformed and that's a shame considering the existence of man on earth is in peril. Read the IPCC report that was released last week by the world's greatest climatolagists including Michael Oppenheimer of Princeton who conslusively proved that global warming is man made and a very real threat.

  • natchet Taylor · 2 years ago
    Nice Vince!

Way to come in here and blow our mind with scientific data. Way to cite references. Sadly, these "scientists" also believe in Intelligent Design.

Now, before I open that can of worms, remember, we are talking science here. Science is defined as: systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation. So, ID is not science.

Also, we ARE heading for another ice age. Just like the ones we had before and it takes a little longer than 30 years for that to come about. So just because some guys in the 70's said it, don't discount it yet.

What blows my mind is the disregard for scientific data and proof. No one wants to admit it, but the only people I know who blast science are the ones who have replaced this school of thought with something else (i.e. religion).

There is no debate on global warming anymore (except on FOX I guess). The critics can't argue with fact. NOW, the debate is whether or not it is man-made.

I bet you think the hole in the ozone layer was natural as well, right Vince?

Why am I always saying this? I don't know, but here goes. Vince, crack open a science book. Get your learn on.
  • Richmedia · 2 years ago
Geesh, Robert, it seems to me as if your little creative cutting job is way more misleading than anything on Fox News. John Stossel works for ABC last I checked.

    Nice editing job though.

    <quote>
In March we all took on Fox and we beat them. Bad. The Nevada Fox-sponsored presidential debates were cancelled when our videos showing Fox's distortions were spread far and wide. Local bloggers worked like crazy, activists around the country wrote and called, and MoveOn used their strategic strength and smarts to bring it all home.
    </quote>

You and your cabal of socialist libs were really stupid for rallying against FNC hosting a real debate. So far, CNN has yet to produce one, and nobody watches them either. Your populist personage that you'd most like to silence, Bill O'Reilly, beat the pants off of every CNN debate to date. Why do you suppose that is?

Your campaign to tarnish FNC, and their offer to host a debate is really self-defeating. Many more real world voters might've watched the Democratic debates, but then, perhaps I'm telling too much.

    Go figure . . .

PS: Since I'm a life-long conservative, and proud of it, I'd like to suggest that you keep on with your campaign against Fox and keep cheering MoveOn along. Real people know misinformation when we see it.

Oh, I hate to say this. But scientific opinion IS split on Global warming and there is evidence that the sun is in fact part of the issue. For example Mars' polar ice caps are melting and Europa's melting frozen surface.

But to suggest it's fine for chemical and power plants to pump toxic gas into the atmosphere, that's crazy.

  • findlay · 1 year ago
There is plenty of evidence to suggest that humans have an impact on the environment. "Fossil fuel burning has produced about three-quarters of the increase in CO2 from human activity over the past 20 years. Most of the rest is due to land-use change, in particular deforestation" www.grida.no

The debate now is the link between temperature increase and the environmental effects humans have made. The reason we cannot make the link is due to us not having the ability to see if this temperature increase is an historic anomaly, or if patterns show a cause-and-effect with C02 emissions. The information we have now shows that there is a 'high probability of a link'. Regardless if your a cynic or otherwise, the price we could pay for being tentative with this issue is enormous. The best solution is to deal with it immediately. The Stern report suggests it will cost 1% of GDP per year to solve this, and the costs are 3% of GDP each year due to climate change.

With the US being the only country not to ratify the Kyoto protocol from March08, stating 'it will be too harmful to the economy', however the Stern report suggests it is more harmful to do nothing.

Im not sure Americans realise how unfavourably you are viewed around the world as a result of being the only country not to ratify the Kyoto protocol and being the worlds largest C02 emitter. Regardless of the protocol's criticism, the fact that the US is looking for excuses rather than sustainability is showing the world how corporate interests have made the US so backward.

Fox serves as just another organisation designed to create debate and confusion.

ExxonMobil states in their global warming strategy; "Victory will be achieved when Average citizens [and the media] 'understand' (recognize) uncertainties in climate science; recognition of uncertainties becomes part of the 'conventional wisdom'"
and "Those promoting the Kyoto treaty on the basis of extant science appear out of touch with reality"
    http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/entity.jsp?e...

Exxonmobil has ties to DCI group, which serves as an adviser to the Bush/Cheney campaign and represents corporate interests. The link between Fox news, News corp and republican support is not difficult to make. Fox's stance on climate change is simply to create confusion thus to satisfy corporate interests.

Dont use this information to attack republicans/democrats here. I have no idea how some of you hold the opinion that climate change doesnt exist due to what you hear of people being divided over it.
I suggest you all read the Stern report, or at least Wiki this topic before deciding what to believe.
